    Coaches honor ILHS football player Indian Land High School’s Jake Locklear was an honorable mention for Class A-AA-AAA offensive lineman of the week at last week’s meeting of the Tri-County Football Coaches Association.
  • Girl Power at ILMS
    Sophie Johnson’s first big football moment this season caused a fumble. In a scrimmage against Camden, No. 36 Sophie, the safety, blew the runner back and knocked the ball loose with her shoulder. Her team went wild. After the game, the Camden players were surprised the big hit came from an eighth-grade girl. “They were shocked. They were saying, ‘Oh my gosh, beaten up by a girl!’ They all shook my hand,” said Sophie, 12. “I don’t want people to underestimate me or not go as hard on me because I’m a girl.”

    Murphy reaps Tri-County honor Indian Land High School football player Alex Murphy was honored at the third weekly meeting of the Tri-County Football Coaches Association meeting at Towne Tavern in Fort Mill on Sept. 12. Murphy was selected as the Class A-AA-AAA special teams player of the week with a blocked punt returned for a touchdown to go with three tackles, two tackles for loss in the Warriors’ 27-16 loss to Broome High School on Sept. 8.

     Junior Warriors win The Indian Land High School junior varsity football team improved to 3-0 on the season, taking an 8-6 win over Broome at the ILHS Reservation on Thursday, Sept. 7.
  • USC suspends former ILHS player Felder
    University of South Carolina sophomore guard Rakym Felder, who played one season of basketball at Indian Land High School, has been suspended indefinitely from the Gamecocks men’s basketball program and will not attend classes this fall, USC basketball coach Frank Martin announced Aug. 16. According to Richland County court records, Felder was arrested July 13 by Columbia police and charged with third-degree assault and battery. He was released on personal recognizance.
