  • Carolina Angels in Winter World Series
    Indian Land's Carolina Angels 14U softball team played in the 2018 Top Gun-USA Winter World Series in Myrtle Beach on Nov. 3 and 4.

    Rodman places 21st in state meet Former Indian Land High School girls standout runner Kaitlyn Rodman posted 21:01 to place 21st overall in the Class AA-A state cross country meet. The 20-team meet was Nov. 3 at the Clemson Sandhills Research Center in Columbia. Rodman now attends the S.C. Governor’s School for Science & Mathematics in Hartsville.

    ILHS winter sports meetings Nov. 14 The 2018-19 winter sports Meet the Warriors Night is 6:15 p.m. Nov. 14 in the Indian Land High School gym. A parent or guardian and all student athletes on the wrestling and girls and boys basketball teams should attend. A general meeting will be held at the beginning and then each team will meet immediately afterward. The event should not last more than 50 minutes.

    ILHS honors unsung football heroes Robbie Csuhta led Indian Land High School with 15 tackles and two tackles for loss in the Warriors’ 13-7 win over Fairfield Central High School on Oct. 25. Dorian Williams had nine tackles, two tackles for loss. Tajh Knight notched eight tackles, two tackles for loss and forced a fumble. A.J. Jefferson posted six tackles and broke up three passes. Alex Murphy notched six tackles, one tackle for loss.

    Dickerson leads Tri-County honors Indian Land High School senior kicker Brandon Dickerson was the lone Lancaster County high school football player honored at the Oct. 16 meeting of the Tri-County Football Coaches Association at the Front Porch Restaurant in Richburg. Dickerson was named the Class A-AAAA Specialist of the Week after his stellar showing in the Warriors’ 57-0 homecoming win over the Keenan Raiders. Dickerson drilled three extra points, a 49-yard field goal and averaged 34.4 yards per punt in the ILHS shutout win.

    Registering for youth fall sports ends soon The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Commission offers five fall sports: • Football, ages 7-12, $75 fee • Cheerleading, ages 7-12, $30 fee • Soccer, ages 5-15, $65 fee • Youth volleyball, girls ages 7-12, $50 fee • Introduction to soccer, age 4 only, $50 fee – This introduces the basic techniques of soccer. Each child will receive a T-shirt and soccer ball. Age cut-off date is Sept. 1, 2018.

    Bear Hug Brawl JV jamboree Aug. 16 The seventh annual Bear Hug Brawl junior varsity football kickoff jamboree is 6 p.m. Aug. 16 at Buford High School Stadium on Tabernacle Road. Andrew Jackson, Buford, Lancaster and Indian Land JV teams and cheer squads will compete. The event will feature games, prizes, raffles and food. Admission is $5 in advance and $6 at the gate.
