    Murphy reaps Tri-County honor Indian Land High School football player Alex Murphy was honored at the third weekly meeting of the Tri-County Football Coaches Association meeting at Towne Tavern in Fort Mill on Sept. 12. Murphy was selected as the Class A-AA-AAA special teams player of the week with a blocked punt returned for a touchdown to go with three tackles, two tackles for loss in the Warriors’ 27-16 loss to Broome High School on Sept. 8.

     Junior Warriors win The Indian Land High School junior varsity football team improved to 3-0 on the season, taking an 8-6 win over Broome at the ILHS Reservation on Thursday, Sept. 7.
  • USC suspends former ILHS player Felder
    University of South Carolina sophomore guard Rakym Felder, who played one season of basketball at Indian Land High School, has been suspended indefinitely from the Gamecocks men’s basketball program and will not attend classes this fall, USC basketball coach Frank Martin announced Aug. 16. According to Richland County court records, Felder was arrested July 13 by Columbia police and charged with third-degree assault and battery. He was released on personal recognizance.

    SUMTER – Lancaster’s Darlings all-stars, undefeated going into the last day of the Dixie Softball World Series, slammed into a Louisiana juggernaut twice Aug. 2, losing both games decisively and ending their championship quest one step short of the title. The team from Jena, La., which Lancaster’s 7- and 8-year-olds had beaten in a dramatic comeback July 30, steamrolled to the victory with 11-3 and 16-5 wins. Eleven teams competed in the double-elimination tournament at Sumter’s Patriot Park Recreation Complex.
