    ILHS hosts wrestling camp June 13-15 Indian Land High School, 8063 River Road, will host a wrestling camp from 9 a.m. to noon June 13-15. Bandits barbecue fundraiser June 14 The Bandits NC 14U fast pitch softball team will hold a barbecue fundraiser June 14 at First United Methodist Church, 200 W. Gay St., Lancaster. Pick up time is 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Cost is $10 a plate, with delivery available for orders of five or more plates. Plates include barbecue, roll, slaw, beans and pound cake.
  • Carolina Chiropractic wins Rotary tourney
    The Carolina Chiropractic team captured the win in the annual Indian Land Rotary golf tournament at Carolina Lakes Golf Club on May 9. The winning team of Adam Bender, Adam Cooper, Damien Bourgeois and Dominic Piccirillo shot a 20-under 52 to capture the win in the captain’s choice tournament, which featured 24 teams.

    Little Warrior Basketball Camp June 10-13 The Little Warrior Basketball Camp for girls entering grades one through seven is 5-8 p.m. June 10-13 at Indian Land Middle School, 8361 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land. Cost is $70, which includes a camp T-shirt and admission to the Lady Warriors varsity scrimmage on June 21. Campers will learn the fundamentals of form shooting, passing, footwork, ball handling and rebounding. 
The camp staff includes ILHS girls basketball head coach Paul Richardson, ILHS assistant coaches and
 ILHS players.

    Gregory Family YMCA offers swim lessons The University of South Carolina Lancaster’s Gregory Family YMCA has set swim lessons for the summer session. Lessons, held Monday-Thursday, are at the Gregory Family YMCA, 512 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster. The classes are taught by USCL Aquatics Director Anne H. Small and her staff.

    SCCL Blue Angels auction off seat for flyover Sun City Carolina Lakes resident Bill Crothers is auctioning off a seat in his plane during a flyover at the Memorial Day veterans softball game at 1 p.m. May 27 at the Waters Edge Park athletic complex, 3181 Sun City Blvd., Indian Land.

    Free family fishing clinic May 18 A free family fishing clinic will be held 1-4 p.m. May 18 at Grandchildren’s Park in Sun City Carolina Lakes. Instructors are resident volunteers who are members of the Sport Fishing Club. Bait, rods and reels, and tackle will be provided. The clinic is designed to introduce the basics of fishing to both young and old. Space is limited.     VFW Golf Tournament May 8 at Ballantyne Indian Land VFW Post 12136 will host a Memorial Golf Tournament on May 8 at The Golf Club at Ballantyne Resort, 10000 Ballantyne Commons Parkway, Charlotte.  Entrance fee of $135 includes cart, range balls, breakfast, lunch, contests and prizes. The Indian Land VFW Post is made up of veterans in south Charlotte and upper Lancaster County. Proceeds will help buy land and build or find an existing facility to serve the needs of all area veterans.

    Post 31 baseball team tryouts May 6-7 The 2019 American Legion Post 31 senior and junior baseball teams will hold tryouts and registration at 6 p.m. May 6-7 at Eggleton Field in Lancaster, adjacent to the Lancaster County Fairgrounds, 823 Kershaw-Camden Highway. The junior team tryout is May 6. Players must have been born between 2002-06 and must bring a copy of their birth certificate or driver’s license to the tryout.   • Indian Land captures KLS titles
    Indian Land High School ran away with the titles in the 13th annual KLS Running for Ryan Lancaster County track meet April 6 at the Lancaster High School track. The Lady Warriors topped the girls field with 116 points on 10 first-place finishes. Buford High School’s girls followed with 52 points, with Andrew Jackson High School at 39.5 points and host Lancaster with 35.5 points.

    LCPRC umpires meeting April 24 Lancaster County Parks and Recreation will hold an officials meeting for Swing League, Girls Sweetees and T-Ball at 5:30 p.m. April 24 in the conference room at the Springdale Recreation Complex, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster. Officials must be at least age 15, must bring their Social Security number and be able to work Tuesday and Thursday nights and Saturday mornings. Teams will play in the Lancaster, Buford, Kershaw, Heath Springs and Walnut Creek areas.
