  • $10,000 in jewelry stolen from Indian Land home

    An Indian Land woman and her daughter reported the theft of an estimated $10,000 in jewelry last month.
    According to the recently obtained incident report, the mother, 45, called the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office on June 19 after returning from a weekend trip to find the jewelry missing from the home she shares with her daughter in the 4300 block of Perth Road.
    The woman said there was only one other person at the house while she was away, a 25-year-old male acquaintance her 19-year-old daughter invited over without permission June 17 who stayed overnight.

  • Crime Watch 7-15-17

    From Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office incident reports:
    • The loss prevention associate at Walmart in Indian Land reported June 17 that someone driving a black pickup stole a work trailer containing electrical materials parked outside of the store overnight.
    The report noted that surveillance cameras captured the incident but were unable to provide any useful evidence.
    The value of the trailer and equipment was estimated at $15,000.

  • Crime Watch 6-21-17

    From Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office reports:
    ◆ Two iPhone 7s were reported stolen June 9 from an AT&T store in Indian Land. The store manager reported that three men had entered the store at 1:50 p.m. and after they left, she discovered that two phones were missing from behind the counter. The report said the manager was distracted with another customer while the unidentified suspects were in the store. The total value of the phones was $1,400.

  • FBI to look into sex video case

    The York County Sheriff’s Office and FBI are reportedly investigating a dissemination of obscenity case against two Indian Land residents involving a pornographic video posted to social media by a spurned girlfriend.
    Though the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office was originally involved in the investigation, sheriff’s office spokesman Doug Barfield said its investigation revealed the social media postings did not occur in the county and so no crime occurred here.

  • Two motorcycles, van stolen in Indian Land

    The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office in seeking the public’s help in determining who stole a van and two motorcycles in Indian Land early Thursday, June 1.
    Between 4 and 4:30 a.m. that day, two 2007 Suzuki GSXR 1000 motorcycles were taken from 4013 and 4022 Ashby Lane in the Windsor Trace subdivision in Indian Land. Both motorcycles are blue and white.  
    Witnesses saw the thieves loading the second motorcycle into a white work van with no tag.

  • 2 in VW facing crack charges

    Two people were arrested for drug trafficking and distribution in a crack cocaine bust in Van Wyck by the sheriff’s office drug task force May 19.
    J.C. Hall, 78, and Faye Latasha Crawford, 34, were both charged with trafficking crack cocaine 28-100 grams after an early-morning raid at their home at 1895 Steele Hill Road.

  • Van Wyck, Lancaster residents arrested in separate drug raids

    Four people have been arrested for drug trafficking and distribution in two separate raids by the sheriff’s drug task force – a crack cocaine bust in Van Wyck and a heroin case in Lancaster.

    The most significant raid occurred early May 19 at 1895 Steele Hill Road, the home of J.C. Hall, 78, and Faye Latasha Crawford, 34, both of whom were charged with trafficking crack cocaine 28-100 grams.

  • 3 arrested in string of break-ins

    Three Lancaster men face at least 31 counts of burglary and attempted burglary in a four-month string of break-ins, including one in Indian Land. Most of the incidents targeted businesses along S.C. 9 Bypass in Lancaster.
    John Josiah Bush, 20, Demarkeyo Wanya’Markel McClinton, 21, and Dentavious Tyrone Sims, age unavailable, were charged in the cases after a joint investigation by the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office and the Lancaster Police Department.
    The sheriff’s office announced the arrests of Bush and McClinton Tuesday, May 2.

  • Man shot in stomach at Bolick Road home

    A man was injured in what was reported as an accidental shooting late April 1 at a home in Indian Land.
    Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Doug Barfield said emergency personnel and deputies responded about 9:25 p.m. to 667 Bolick Road, where they found the seriously injured victim suffering from a gunshot to the stomach.
    Bolick Road is off Possum Hollow Road.
    The victim, who was visiting the home, was transported to an area hospital, where he was still being treated April 3, though he is expected to recover, Barfield said.

  • IL man loses $47K in home-closing scam

    An Indian Land man trying to buy a house in Charlotte was scammed out of $47,000 in what sheriff’s investigators believe was a fraudulent online home-closing scheme.
    According to the sheriff’s office incident report, the 40-year-old victim said he had worked with a real estate agent and decided he wanted to buy a particular house. As he was deciding what price he would offer, he told deputies, he received an email March 13, purportedly from a Charlotte attorney representing the seller.
