    Mother’s Day flower sale May 11-12
    Steele Hill AME Zion Church, 6021 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, will hold its annual Mother’s Day flower sale 8 a.m.-7 p.m. May 11 and 8 a.m.-noon May 12. Hanging baskets and assorted flowers will be available to buy.

    Homeschool info session May 3
    The Holy Queen Homeschool Group at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church will hold an info session for registered families and prospective parents at 7 p.m. May 3 in the church’s parish hall, 7095 Waxhaw Highway, Lancaster.
    Attendees can meet the co-op’s teachers and learn more about its fall 2018 university-style courses for middle and high school students.
    Families do not have to be Catholic to join the homeschool co-op.

  • Council denies church’s rezoning request

    Lancaster County Council voted 5-2 April 9 to deny a conditional-use application that would let bilingual Chinese-American congregation Truth In Grace Bible Church build a sanctuary on Harrisburg Road in Indian Land.
    County Councilman Larry Honeycutt, who made the motion to deny, noted that neighboring residents and property owners submitted a 103-signature petition asking county leaders to reject the application.

    FM Nazarenes host singing April 29
    Fort Mill Church of the Nazarene, 109 Harris St., Fort Mill, will host a Fifth Sunday Night Singing at 6 p.m. April 29. Area Nazarene churches will share the musical program. The community is invited to attend.

    Belair food pantry open
    The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, is open 9 a.m.-noon April 19. The pantry is for those who live in the Indian Land and Harrisburg schools attendance area. Anyone in need of food is welcome. Donations of food or money are also welcome at the church office from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays.

    St. John’s United Methodist Church, 160 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold the following events this month:

    - Luau/Silent Auction 5:30-7:30 p.m. April 13 in the fellowship center. The event will feature games for kids, concessions (cash only) including barbecue sliders, chicken nuggets, meatballs and more and a silent auction with items from Lowe’s, Pump House, Page6, Marriott and more. Tickets for games available at the door.

  • St. Anthony relics coming to OLOG

    Two relics of St. Anthony of Padua, the much-loved 13th-century Saint of Lost Things, will visit Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church on April 13.
    The church, at 7095 Waxhaw Highway in Indian Land, will hold Masses that day at noon and 7 p.m. Veneration will begin after the noon Mass and last until the 7 p.m.
    St. Anthony was one of the earliest members of the Franciscan Order, which was founded in 1209.
