    Faith Presbyterian posts events
    Faith Presbyterian Church, 7520 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land, will hold these events in March:
    • Elementary-age kids are invited to “Super Sunday” 1:30-3 p.m. March 17 (third Sunday of each month) at the church office. The group is learning about God’s light this spring, and exploring ways solar power can bring light to people all around the world. This club for kindergarten through fifth-graders explores Scripture through music, art, recreation and Bible study.

    • A Lenten Bible study by Adam Hamilton on the Gospel of John is at 7 p.m. Tuesdays March 5-April 9 in the sanctuary.
    • Youth in grades six through 12 meet 5-7 p.m. March 10 (second and fourth Sundays of the month) for fun activities, study programs and service projects.

  • Salkehatchie seeks homes to repair

    The Catawba Salkehatchie Camp is looking for residents in Indian Land, Van Wyck and Fort Mill who need help with substantial home repairs. The camp runs June 15-22 and repairs will be made during that week.
    Since 1998, Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church has hosted 70 plus campers each summer for a work week that has helped more than 120 homeowners in the Indian Land, Van Wyck and Fort Mill communities.

  • IL church gives $50,000 to women’s center

    Transformation Church showed its support for the Women’s Enrichment Center in Lancaster this week with a sizable donation, which will have a considerable impact on the nonprofit’s local operations.
    The Indian Land church donated $50,000 to the pregnancy center, about half of what the nonprofit usually collects in annual donations.

  • Church of Christ coming to Indian Land

    With the start of the new year comes the beginning of a new house of worship – Church of Christ at Indian Land, to be built at 651 Jim Wilson Road.
    This new, but familiar congregation is an outgrowth of the Church of Christ at Gold Hill Road in Fort Mill, said Elder David Beels. One hundred members are moving to the new Indian Land church with the expectation that more will join them when the new sanctuary opens.

    The Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic Church’s Divine Liturgy is at 4 p.m. Saturdays at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 E. Munn Road, Fort Mill. The Byzantines meet in the parish center, between the church and the ministry building.
    What is a Byzantine Catholic? An explanation of the Eastern Church, part of the universal church in union with Rome, is Feb. 2 (first Saturday of the month), along with a coffee social after the liturgy. There will be activities for children 12 and under during the talk.
