Donors not stepping up to fund amenities

By Emily Pollok

Indian Land’s YMCA has hit some bumps in the road since the plans for the cutting-edge fitness center were announced at the end of last year.
The 35-day partial federal shutdown set construction back by about two months, while a shortage of private fundraising has restricted the scope of amenities at the facility, which will be built at the CrossRidge Center development off U.S. 521.
“A lot of doors have just not opened for us,” said Upper Palmetto YMCA CEO Moe Bell, frustrated by the lack of private donors.
