Rotary Open golf tournament Sept. 13
The Rotary Clubs of Lancaster will hold the 2018 Rotary Open golf tournament Sept. 13 at the Lancaster Golf Club, 1821 Springs Club Road, Lancaster.
Check-in and team assignments are at noon, with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. A steak dinner and prizes are at 5 p.m.
Team prizes are $1,000 for first place, $400 for second place and $200 for third place.

Family Fishing Clinic Sept. 15 in Sun City

A free Family Fishing Clinic is 1-4 p.m. Sept. 15 at Grandparents’ Park at the intersection of Del Webb Boulevard and Kingfisher Drive in Sun City Carolina Lakes. To register, call (803) 737-8483, email aquaced@dnr.sc.gov or visit www.dnr.sc.gov/aquaced.
Instructors are SCCL Sport Fishing Club volunteers, trained by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources. The clinic will introduce the basics of fishing. Bait, rods and reels, and tackle will be provided.

ILHS players earn honorable mentions
The Indian Land High School Warriors earned several honorable mentions for week two at the Sept. 4 meeting at the Front Porch Restaurant in Richburg.
They included Tyree Sistare for Class A-AAAA offensive player of the week. In the Warriors’ 14-9 comeback win over Class AAAA York High School on Aug. 31, he rushed for 122 yards on 13 carries and two touchdowns, including the game-winner from 10 yards out. Sistare  also dashed 73 yards for ILHS’s first score in the five-point road win.
IL’s Dorian Williams got an honorable mention as defensive player of the week. He had 12 tackles, nine solo hits, and an interception.
Tahj Knight of Indian Land was an honorable mention as defensive lineman of the week. He had seven tackles, five tackles for loss and a sack.
ILHS senior kicker Brandon Dickerson was an honorable mention as specialist of the week with a 38.4 punting average and an extra point in the Warriors win, which put them at 2-1 on the season.

First NAMI Piedmont golf tourney Sept. 22

The first NAMI Piedmont Tri-County golf tournament is Sept. 22 at the Lancaster Golf Club, 1821 Springs Club Road, Lancaster. Check-in is at noon, with a shotgun start at 1:30 p.m.

The entry fee is $260 per foursome, which includes snacks, beverages, dinner, closest-to-the-pin contest and longest drive contest. Make checks payable to NAMI Piedmont Tri-County.
First place is $500, with $300 for second and $100 to the third-place team.

Soccer officials meeting Sept. 23

Lancaster County recreation soccer officials will meet at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 23 at Springdale Recreation Center, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster. Those interested in officiating recreation soccer must attend this meeting, where all the rules will discussed and questions will be answered. For details, call Micky Taylor at (803) 285-5545. 

Children’s Home Fall Flurry Oct. 12
The eighth annual Fall Flurry, to benefit the Lancaster Children’s Home, is set for Oct. 12 at the Rocky Creek Sporting Clays, 3390 Mountain Gap Road/Highway 901, Richburg.
The fee is $125 per shooter with four-member teams, or $150 for individuals. Fee includes the registration, meal and awards presentation at the shoot.
The clay shoot schedule has a morning and afternoon flight time. The course is the shooting stations, including the Flurry.
Money and trophies will be presented to the top highest overall and top two highest overall teams.

YMCA offers snowmobile trips
The YMCA has scheduled two family snowmobile trips to Yellowstone Park from Jan. 19-23 and Jan 23-27. A deposit of $250 and completed registration form are required to reserve your spot. Final payment is due Dec. 1. For details or to register, call (803) 324-9622, ext. 221.
