Greenway offers outdoors programs
Anne Springs Close Greenway in Fort Mill will host the following outdoors programs:
• Intro to Kayaking – 6:30 p.m. June 28 and July 9 at the Rush Pavilion, 2573 Lake Haigler Drive. This class will cover appropriate gear for kayaking and how to fit it, how to choose a safe kayaking location based on your ability and how to safely and effectively get into and out of your boat. On the water, it will cover basic paddling techniques. 
• Sunset Kayak – 7:15 p.m. July 4 and 19 at the Rush Pavilion, 2573 Lake Haigler Drive. Kayaks and personal flotation devices will be provided. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult in a tandem kayak. Cost is by kayak – $15 for a single kayak and $20 for a tandem kayak, including kayak equipment and guide. For nonmembers, a greenway entry fee of $5 applies. Registration is limited to four single kayaks and two tandem kayaks.

LA Elite 14U softball hosts tournament
The LA Elite youth softball team will hold a co-ed slow pitch softball tournament fundraiser July 14 at Camp Clyburn, 3662 Taxahaw Road in eastern Lancaster County off S.C. 903 East.
The registration fee is $250 a team, with 10-12 players per team, with an even number of boys and girls. Teams must be registered by July 4. Prizes will be presented to the top two teams. Concessions will be sold at the event.
The LA Elite has been invited to play in the 14U showcase at ESPN Orlando, Fla., which will draw over 200 college coaches to watch the games.

County pools offer swim lessons
• The Gregory Family YMCA, 512 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster, will hold two more sessions of summer youth swim lessons.
Session three is July 9-19 and session four is July 23-Aug. 2. Classes are Monday-Thursday at one of these times: 10-10:30 a.m., 10:30-11 a.m., 5:30-6 p.m., 6-6:30 p.m. and 6:30-7 p.m.

• The Lancaster County Pool, at the corner of Wylie and York streets in Lancaster, offers swim lessons for ages 3-18 July 9-19. Classes are Monday-Thursday at one of these times: 10-10:45 a.m., 11-11:45 a.m., and 6-6:45 p.m.
Adult swim lessons are 7-7:45 p.m. July 9-19.

Free fishing clinic July 21 in Sun City
A free Family Fishing Clinic is 1-4 p.m. July 21 at Grandparents’ Park at the intersection of Del Webb Boulevard and Kingfisher Drive in Sun City Carolina Lakes.
Instructors are SCCL Sport Fishing Club volunteers, trained by the S.C. Department of Natural Resources. The clinic will introduce the basics of fishing. Bait, rods and reels, and tackle will be provided.

WEC golf tourney July 27
The Women’s Enrichment Center’s 12th annual golf tournament is July 27 at the Lancaster Golf Club, 1821 Springs Club Road, Lancaster.
The flighted golf tournament has a $500 first-place prize, with $300 for second and $100 for third place, along with close-up and long drive winner awards.
Registration is at 8 a.m., with the invocation and rules at 8:45 and a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Donuts will be served from 8 to 8:45 a.m. Awards and meal, a barbecue lunch courtesy of 521 BBQ, are at 1 p.m.
Tournament sponsorships are available at ($2,500) platinum, ($1,000) gold, ($500) silver and $350 (platinum) levels.
Entry fee is $260 for a four-member team. Entry forms are available in the Lancaster Golf Club pro shop and the Women’s Enrichment Center, 311 N. Main St., Lancaster. Registration deadline is July 24. Checks should be made payable to the Women’s Enrichment Center.
