Dougherty makes all-conference team

Shalyn Dougherty, an Indian Land Hgh School graduate, was one of 15 members of the Limestone College men’s and women’s soccer programs honored Oct. 30 as they were named to the Conference Carolinas Academic All-Conference Team.

Ranked fifth in the Southeast region, the women’s squad led the entire league with 13 honorees, including Dougherty, who is a senior on the Limestone team, based in High Point, N.C.

They were named to the team for maintaining a cumulative grade-point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale.

The GPA is calculated based on the student-athlete’s cumulative average through the previous semester, and each student-athlete must have attended their member institution for at least one academic year.

Dougherty, a 5-foot, 3-inch forward, has scored four goals and five assists for the 17-21 Limestone Saints this season.

Dougherty made the Conference Carolinas presidential honor roll in 2016-17 fall and spring.

She is the daughter of JoLynn and Robert Dougherty.
