Coaches honor ILHS football players

Two Indian Land High School football standouts – Jake Locklear and Brandon Dickerson – were honored during the weekly meeting of the Tri-County Football Coaches Association meeting at the Towne Tavern in Fort Mill on Oct. 31.

Locklear was tabbed as the Class A-AA-AAA Offensive Lineman of the Week with a 94 percent grade in the ILHS 14-13 overtime loss Oct. 27 to Fairfield Central High School.

Locklear had seven knockdown blocks, two pancake blocks and allowed no sacks.

Locklear, who also saw action in the defensive line, had a blocked field goal to force overtime.

Dickerson posted a net average of 41 yards on his punts and had three downed inside the 20-yard line.

Indian Land’s Dorian Williams was an honorable mention for defensive player with seven tackles, two tackles for loss, and an interception.

The Warriors’ Alex Murphy was an honorable mention for defensive lineman with 10 tackles and four tackles for loss.

IL Wrestling Club practices begin

The Indian Land Wrestling Club began practicing Nov. 2. The club invites kindergarten through sixth-grade boys and girls to join. Practices are 6-8 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays. ILMS booster club meets Nov. 20

Indian Land Middle School Athletic Booster Club meets at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 20 in the ILMS cafeteria.
