Smith letter: A modest proposal on campaign signs

-A A +A

It seems candidates are much more interested in putting their signs out on roadsides rather than in being responsible and collecting them after elections.
My proposal is to give candidates three days to collect their signs. If they don’t collect them, any citizen can collect signs still out, return them to the elections staff and collect $1 per sign. Then the candidate’s campaign will be billed for uncollected signs.
Perhaps then the unsightly clutter of political signs after elections will end.
