USCL prospective workshop June 15

USC Lancaster, 476 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster, will hold a prospective student workshop 4-7 p.m. June 15 in the Arnold Special Events Room in the Bradley Arts and Science Building. Attendees will learn about the enrollment process and financial aid, fill out an application and register for orientation. All parents are welcome.

Three local students earn Citadel degrees

Three Lancaster County students received their undergraduate degrees May 6 from The Citadel in McAlister Field House in Charleston. Kenneth Martin received a degree in criminal justice, Joshua Peed received a degree in political science and Tony Ellis received a degree in psychology.

Next ‘Alive at 25’ course June 20

All Lancaster County School District students must complete an “Alive at 25” course before being allowed to park on a school campus. The next round of courses is 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. June 20 and July 25 at the Barr Street Learning Center, 610 E. Meeting St., Lancaster. 

Each course is 4.5 hours long and is taught by a certified police officer. It costs $35 and all payments should be sent to S.C. National Safety Council, 121 Ministry Drive, Irmo, SC 29063. IL alumni reunion June 25

The Indian Land alumni classes of 1930-84 reunion luncheon is 1 p.m. June 25 in the Indian Land Elementary School cafeteria, 4137 Doby’s Bridge Road. Doors open at 10 a.m. and covered dishes will be served.

USCL offers Adventure Camp

USC Lancaster, 476 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster, will hold the second session of its Arts and Sciences Adventure Camp on July 10-13 and 17-20. The camp is for rising sixth- through ninth-graders and includes applied mathematics and science activities, computer applications and fitness activities.

LCSD 2017-2018 school year

The first semester of the 2017-2018 school year for all Lancaster County School District schools begins Aug. 17 and ends Dec. 21. The second semester begins Jan. 3 and ends May 25.

Sign up now for summer arts camps

The Lancaster County Council of the Arts 2017 Summer Smarts: Arts and Sciences summer camp dates are:

- July 10-14, Covenant Baptist Church, 165 Craig Manor Road, Lancaster

- July 17-21, Tabernacle United Methodist Church, 5908 Tabernacle Road, Lancaster

- July 24-28, First Baptist Church, 210 N. Matson St., Kershaw

- July 31-Aug. 4, Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Highway, Indian Land

Camp runs 9 a.m.-noon each day. Early registration is $65 for LCCA members and $80 for non-members. A $25 late registration fee will be applied after June 9. Registration includes daily snacks, T-shirt and supplies. Volunteer and scholarship opportunities are available. For details, call (803) 285-7451.
