Prom promise today, ILHS prom April 26
Indian Land High School will hold Prom Promise 1:30-2 p.m. April 24.
The ILHS prom is 8-11:30 p.m. April 26 in the Magnolia Room, 4017 Laurel Creek Drive, Rock Hill.
Apply now for Arts Council scholarship
The Lancaster County Council of the Arts is accepting applications for the $750 LCCA Academic Scholarship, which will be awarded to a high school senior living in Lancaster County who will graduate in 2019.
The student must be accepted as a full-time undergraduate student at a fully accredited college, university or technical college. 
A major in dance, literature, music, theater folk and traditional arts or visual arts is preferred, but not required.
Applicants may submit application packages to the offices of the Lancaster County Council of the Arts, 201 W. Gay St., Lancaster, or mail them to P.O. Box 613, Lancaster, SC, 29721.
Online applications are available at www.lccarts.net. Paper copies are available at local high school guidance offices, from college advising corps representatives or by calling (803) 285-7451.
The deadline to apply is 3 p.m. April 26.
Enter LSWCD photo contest by April 29
The Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District is holding a conservation or natural resources photo contest for Lancaster County students.
Photos must be taken in Lancaster County and will be judged on technical merit and composition.
Awards will be presented on elementary, middle and high school levels, along with an award for the teacher who has the most students participate in the contest.
The deadline for entries is April 29.

Hall of Fame and Retiree Luncheon May 14
The Lancaster County School District Hall of Fame and Retiree Luncheon is 11:30 a.m. May 14 at the Lancaster Multipurpose Center, 870 Roddey Drive, Lancaster. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased by calling (803) 416-8848.
LCSD kindergarten registration open
Lancaster County School District has opened registration for next year’s 4-year-olds, kindergartners and new first-graders. Students should be registered online at www.lancastercsd.com, then required documents should be brought to the school. Online registration takes less than 15 minutes as parents enter identification and contact information. If families do not have computer or internet access, there will be Chromebooks onsite at each school.
After online registration, bring the following documents to the elementary school your child will attend: legal birth certificate (long form, showing both parents’ names), immunization record (S.C. form requested), parent driver’s license (with current address), and two mandatory forms of residency – one must be a mortgage or settlement statement, rental, lease or purchase agreement or property tax receipt (house or car) and the other a utility bill with matching service address.
The first day of school for students is Aug. 19.
LCSD offers special education services
Lancaster County School District is offering special education services for children, youth and adults with disabilities, ages 3-21. For details, call (803) 285-8439 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday or email Kathy.Durbin@lcsdmail.net.
Senator accepts intern applications
U.S. Sen. Tim Scott has announced that he is accepting congressional internship applications for positions in his Washington D.C., North Charleston and Columbia offices for summer 2019.
The internship program offers undergraduate and graduate students practical experience in constituent services, the legislative process, government policy and press. The internship also provides students with the ability to work with and learn from public service professionals.
All internships are unpaid, but students will learn invaluable work experience and skills throughout their internship that will help them gain a better understanding of how their government functions.
Internship hours are flexible, but generally run 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
