Students attend ‘Imaginators’

Lancaster County School District students will travel to Lancaster High School this week to see the Charlotte Children’s Theatre production of “Imaginators.” Fourth-graders saw it Dec. 5; fifth-graders will see it Dec. 6 and sixth-graders Dec. 7.

HES holds school spelling bee Dec. 8

Harrisburg Elementary School third- through fifth-graders will face off in the school’s spelling bee Dec. 8. The winner will represent the school in the district spelling bee.

Local schools celebrate holidays

Schools across the county will bring in the holidays with performances throughout the month of December. Some of those performances include:

Indian Land High School

- ILMS sixth-grade Winter Band and Chorus concert, 7 p.m. Dec. 7 at CrossRidge (former City of Light), 3000 World Reach Drive

- Winter Chorus Concert, 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at CrossRidge

- Winter Band Concert, 7 p.m. Dec. 19 at CrossRidge

Discovery School taking applications

Student applications for the 2018-19 school year at Discovery School are now available. Applications can be found at dis.lancastercsd.com or can be picked up at the school, 302 W. Dunlap St., Lancaster.

Sen. Tim Scott  seeking interns

U.S. Sen. Tim Scott is seeking congressional interns to serve in Washington, D.C., in spring 2018. The internship program offers undergraduate and gradate students practical experience in constituent services, the legislative process and government policy and press. All internships are unpaid. Internship hours are flexible to accommodate students’ course schedules, but generally run from 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m. Monday-Friday.  Interested South Carolina students should email internships@scott.senate.gov or call (202) 224-6121.

U.S. Rep. Norman seeks interns

U.S. District 5 Congressman Ralph Norman is seeking interns for the remainder of the fall 2017 semester and the spring 2018 semester. 

Unpaid interns will conduct legislative research, assist with front office operations, help with constituent relations, conduct Capitol tours and learn from staff about the day-to-day operations of a congressional office. 

South Carolina ties are preferred, but not required.

ILHS students paying it forward

Indian Land High School students are paying it forward by donating change to pay for other students’ copies or library fines.
