St. John’s UMC posts August events
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 160 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold the following events:
• The last Wacky Wednesdays summer program for church members in kindergarten through fifth grade is Aug. 8.
• St. John’s Grief Support Group meets at 4:30 p.m. every other Wednesday. The next meetings are Aug. 15 and 22.
• The Cub Scout Pack that meets at St. John’s will hold New Scout Night on Aug. 15. You do not have to be a member of St. John’s to join.

• Promotion Sunday and the blessing of the backpacks is Aug. 19. The church will present Bibles to rising third-graders. All children should bring their backpacks to be blessed for the coming school year.
• The Gourmet Travelers Lunch, sponsored by Family Ministries, is for those members who normally eat alone. This month’s lunch will be 11:15 a.m. Aug. 25 at Bob Evans Restaurant, 520 John Ross Parkway, Rock Hill. Email Hmyers@unifieday.com to RSVP.
• A St. John’s chancel choir workshop will be 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 28. Lunch is provided.

Temple Solel meets Aug. 10
Temple Solel, a Reform Jewish congregation, holds Shabbat services at 7 p.m. the second and fourth Fridays of each month in the community room at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill. JAARS Day set for Aug. 11
The next Welcome to JAARS Day is at 9 a.m. Aug. 11 at the JAARS headquarters, 7405 Jaars Road, Waxhaw, N.C. The day will include helicopter and five-seat plane rides, learning about Bible translation and how people access the internet in the rainforest. Aircraft rides are limited and tickets are sold on a first-come, first-served basis. A waiver is required and can be found at www.jaars.org/experience/events/jaars-day.

Mount Moriah revival Aug. 12-15
Mount Moriah AME Zion Church, 1532 Douglas Road, Lancaster, will host its annual church revival at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 12 and 7 p.m. Aug. 13-15. Revival speakers include the Rev. James Williams of New Zion AME Zion Church, the Rev. Otis Lathan of Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Grief support group meets Tuesdays

AA meets weekly at Belair UMC
Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road. Meetings are open discussion, with speakers on third Wednesdays.


NAMI support groups meet

Belair UMC food pantry open Aug. 16
The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, is open 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 16. The pantry is for those who live in the Panhandle schools attendance area. Anyone in need of food is welcome. Donations of food or money are also welcome at the church office from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays.

Moriah Baptist Singles host supper
The Moriah Baptist Association will host the Moriah Singles annual hot dog supper at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at White Springs Baptist Church, 1249 Grace Avenue, Lancaster. Bring a side dish and/or dessert. Foothills Theological Schools class registration

Moriah Baptist leadership training Aug. 25
The S.C. Baptist Convention and Moriah Baptist Association will host Sunday School-Life Group Leadership Training from 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 25 at Covenant Baptist Church, 165 Craig Manor Road, Lancaster. Registration is 8:30-9 a.m. in the fellowship hall with the general session beginning at 9 a.m. led by Bobby Howard introducing “3 Circles Evangelism.” Breakout sessions will follow at 9:45 a.m. There will be sessions for general officers, pastors, adults, youth, children and nursery-preschool. Moriah Stewardship Banquet Aug. 28
The Moriah Baptist Association will host the 2018 Moriah Stewardship Banquet at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at First Baptist Church, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster. A buffet meal will be served and King’s Cause will present a concert. The Rev. Ken Owens, collegiate minister for the S.C. Baptist Convention will speak.
