Belair UMC food pantry open Aug. 2
The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, is open 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 2. The pantry is for those who live in the Panhandle schools attendance area. Anyone in need of food is welcome. Donations of food or money are also welcome at the church office from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays.

St. John’s UMC posts events
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 160 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold the following events:
• Promotion Sunday is Aug. 19. The church will present Bibles to rising third-graders and bless backpacks. Call the church office by Aug. 1 if you have a rising third-grader so a Bible can be ordered for them.
• The children of St. John’s are participating in a school supply drive in partnership with the Foundation for Fort Mill Schools, to help underprivileged children prepare for the school year. Children age 5 to fifth grade are invited to help with this project. Sign up outside the sanctuary to help collect school supplies before the 8:30 and 11 a.m. services on Aug. 5.  After the 11 a.m. service, the volunteers will meet from noon-1:30 p.m. to sort the supplies. Lunch will be provided.
A list of needed items is in the bulletin, on the church website and on the bulletin board across from the church office.
• The last Wacky Wednesdays summer program for church members in kindergarten through fifth grade is Aug. 8.
• St. John’s Grief Support Group meets at 4:30 p.m. every other Wednesday.
• St. John’s VIP (seniors) group will take a Christian Tours trip to The Ark and The Creation Museum on Sept. 12-14. Friends and family are welcome to come, too. Fliers are in the lobby. For details, email mjackson107@yahoo.com.

Back to School Bash Aug. 11
The second annual Lancaster Back to School Bash, sponsored by area churches and individuals, is 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 11 at USC Lancaster’s Bradley Building, 476 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster. Free shoes, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and food provided. Students and volunteers should register at www.lancasterbacktoschoolbash.com.

Grief support group meets
Journey Towards Healing, a six-week grief support group, meets at 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 14 at the Moriah Baptist Association, 914 W. Meeting St., Lancaster. For details, call Alice Robson at (803) 286-1472.

AA meets weekly at Belair UMC
Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the social hall at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road. Meetings are open discussion, with speakers on third Wednesdays.

NAMI support groups meet
• The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Family Support Group meets 7-8:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month in Room 203 at Transformation Church, 8978 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land. For details, contact Sue Korn at (704) 575-5928 or suekorn08@gmail.com.

Moriah Baptist Singles host supper
The Moriah Baptist Association will host the Moriah Singles annual hot dog supper at 6 p.m. Aug. 20 at White Springs Baptist Church, 1249 Grace Avenue, Lancaster. Bring a side dish and/or dessert. Moriah Baptist leadership training Aug. 25
The S.C. Baptist Convention and Moriah Baptist Association will host Sunday School-Life Group Leadership Training from 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 25 at Covenant Baptist Church, 165 Craig Manor Road, Lancaster. Registration is 8:30-9 a.m. in the fellowship hall with the general session beginning at 9 a.m. led by Bobby Howard introducing “3 Circles Evangelism.” Breakout sessions will follow at 9:45 a.m. There will be sessions for general officers, pastors, adults, youth, children and nursery-preschool. Temple Solel meets Fridays

Moriah Stewardship Banquet Aug. 28
The Moriah Baptist Association will host the 2018 Moriah Stewardship Banquet at 6 p.m. Aug. 28 at First Baptist Church, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster. A buffet meal will be served and King’s Cause will present a concert. The Rev. Ken Owens, collegiate minister for the S.C. Baptist Convention will speak.
