St. John’s UMC posts events
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 160 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold these church events:
• REAL Kids’ Wacky Wednesdays events include: July 31 –  Asbury Hills and Aug. 7 – “Minute to Win It.”
• Summer youth events include a lock-in Aug. 9.
• Wednesday night dinners and Vespers are suspended for the summer.

• The VIPs (seniors) are planning a four-day, three-night trip to Lancaster, Pa., on Oct 2-3. Highlights include seeing “Jesus” at the Sight & Sound Theatre, a tour of Amish country and the Bible Museum in Washington, D.C. All church members, family and friends are invited. Belair pantry open Aug. 1
Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, opens its food pantry for Indian Land residents 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 1 (first and third Thursday of each month). Food or cash donations may be dropped off at the church office 9 a.m.-noon weekdays.
NAMI support groups meet
• The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Family Support Group will meet 7-8:30 p.m. Aug. 1 (first Thursday of each month) in Room 203 at Transformation Church, 8978 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land. For details, contact Sue Korn at (704) 575-5928 or suekorn08@gmail.com.

All Night Adoration at OLOG Aug. 2
Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Highway, Lancaster, will hold an All Night Adoration on Aug. 2, beginning after the 7 p.m. First Friday Mass and ending at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 3. The First Saturday Mass will follow the conclusion at 11 a.m. All are welcome, whether they signed up or not.
Byzantines meet Saturdays
The Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic Church’s Divine Liturgy is 4 p.m. Saturdays in the parish center at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 E. Munn Road, Fort Mill. An explanation of the Eastern Church, part of the universal church in union with Rome, is Aug. 3 (first Saturday of the month), along with a coffee social after the liturgy and children’s activities during the talk. Kurtz concert at Crossroads 
Rachel Kurtz, songwriter, speaker and storyteller, will be live in concert at 7 p.m. Aug. 3 at Crossroads Lutheran Church at the corner of Shelley Mullis and Henry Harris roads, Indian Land. 
Kurtz has been touring and singing for almost 20 years. She speaks frankly about love, God, parenting and heartbreak. She has sung at the last six ELCA National Youth Gatherings and her song “Make a Difference” is sung nationwide on any given Sunday.
Tickets are $15 in advance, available at www.crossroadslutheran.church – Rachel Kurtz tab. Tickets include an ice cream social following the concert.
Kurtz will help lead worship Aug. 4 at Crossroads (11 a.m.) and Amazing Grace Lutheran (9 a.m.), 416 W. North Main St., Waxhaw.
Fine arts camp at Covenant
Covenant Baptist Church, 165 Craig Manor Road, Lancaster, will host a fine arts camp 4:45-8 p.m. Aug. 4 and 9 a.m.-noon Aug. 5-8.
Classes are for rising first- to sixth-graders and include woodworking, sound, lights and tech, painting, arts and crafts, and cooking. Children will select their top six classes and take four. Sign up early to get your top choices.
Register online at cbclancaster.org by Aug. 5. The camp is $40 and includes a T-shirt, supplies for the week, a pizza supper on Sunday night and snacks.
Registration is complete with payment, which can be mailed to P.O. Box 578, Lancaster, SC 29721; or delivered to the church office.

Temple Solel hosts Shabbat services
Temple Solel, a Reform Jewish Congregation, meets for Shabbat services at 7 p.m. Aug. 9 (second and fourth Fridays of each month) at the Belair United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, Indian Land. AA meets Wednesdays
Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, Indian Land. Meetings are open discussion, with speakers on third Wednesdays.
Alzheimer’s group meets
The Alzheimer’s Caregivers Support Group of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Highway, Indian Land, meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 15 (third Thursday each month) in the church library. It offers support to those caring for loved ones with dementia.
OLOG hosts fellowships
Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Highway, Lancaster, holds a weekly fellowship at 12:30 p.m. after the noon Mass on Thursdays. The church also hosts a monthly hospitality after the Sunday 11 a.m. Mass on Aug. 18 (third Sunday each month). Coffee and doughnuts are served at noon. All are welcome.
Hospice caregivers to meet
Hospice Care of S.C. will hold a caregiver support group 10-11 a.m. Aug. 21 (third Wednesday of each month) in the Belair United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, Indian Land. For details, call Cory Turner at (803) 577-4912.
Stewardship banquet Aug. 27
The Moriah Baptist Association will host its annual Stewardship Banquet at 6 p.m. Aug. 27 at First Baptist Church, 300 S. Market St., Lancaster. Dr. Joe Brown, former pastor of Hickory Grove Baptist Church of Charlotte and current pastor of Restoration Church of the Carolinas in Indian Land, will speak. The Littles of Monroe, N.C., will perform a gospel concert before the message. Meal tickets are $10. Tickets are on sale through Aug. 15 at the Moriah Baptist Association Missions Center, 914 W. Mother’s Morning Out opening at Faith
Faith Presbyterian’s Mother’s Morning Out program for the 2019-20 school year has one opening. The program meets 9 a.m.-noon Wednesdays throughout the school year, and is open to any child who will be 2 or 3 years old on Sept. 1. Cost is $50 per month. Prayer garden open to public
Everyone is invited to visit the Community Prayer Garden with the Stations of the Cross on the grounds of Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road. The shaded garden, with benches, is open from 8 a.m. to sunset daily. Booklets are available at the entrance with reflections and prayers to guide visitors on their walk. The garden is between the two buildings and can be accessed from either parking lot.

Register for Faith Formation
Registration is now open for the 2019-20 children’s Faith Formation program at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church. The program is free for all registered parishioners. In this program, children and families grow together in holy fellowship, understanding of the sacraments, Scripture and many other aspects of the Catholic faith.
Classes are Wednesday evenings with sessions at 4 and 6:30 p.m. during the school year. Families will receive further information upon registration.

PHUMC student ministry meets Sundays
The PHYouth student ministry (sixth-12th grades) meets 4:30-6:30 p.m. Sundays at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Highway, Indian Land. It is discussing the book “Counter Culture” by David Platt, which talks about where Jesus and culture collide. Youth Bible study is 6:30-7:30 p.m. Wednesdays.
Connection seeks volunteers
The Connection, 1305 McIlwain Road, Lancaster, needs volunteers to help children at Countryside Mobile Home Park with their homework and reading 4-5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Healthy snacks and drinks are also needed. For details, email theconnectionatcountryside@gmail.com.
