St. John’s UMC posts upcoming events
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 160 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold the following events:
• The Wacky Wednesdays summer program for church members in kindergarten through fifth grade are July 11, 25 and Aug. 8.
• St. John’s Grief Support Group meets at 4:30 p.m. July 18.
• St. John’s VIP (seniors) group will take a Christian Tours trip to The Ark and The Creation Museum on Sept. 12-14. Friends and family are welcome to come, too. Fliers are in the lobby. For details, email mjackson107@yahoo.com.


Faith hosts mobile food pantry July 13
Faith Presbyterian Church will host a Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry on July 13 in the parking lot of its new church building, 7520 Charlotte Highway (U.S. 521), Indian Land, at the intersection of Van Wyck Road.
Registration begins at 8:30 a.m., with distribution of food at 9 a.m. Food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, until it is gone. Recipients must meet USDA income-eligibility guidelines. ID is required for registration.

Funding needed for African mission
Chaplain Scott Girard and Dr. Jeff Richards, a professor and pastor, are on a June 29-July 15 teaching mission to the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Over 600 pastors in two major cities will attend pastoral training institutes at no charge.
The duo are seeking sponsors at $30 per pastor, which provides them with one meal per day and a bus ticket. They get their own lodging, usually sleeping on the ground or in a nearby church.

Taylors Grove holds VBS July 15-18
Taylors Grove Baptist Church, 2382 Charlotte Highway, Lancaster, will host Vacation Bible School 6-8:30 p.m. July 15-18. The theme is “Gear Up for Life’s Big Game – Game On!” There will be classes, crafts and games for ages kindergarten through high school. Nursery will also be available. Belair UMC food pantry open July 19
The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, is open 9 a.m.-noon July 19. The pantry is for those who live in the Indian Land and Harrisburg schools attendance area. Anyone in need of food is welcome. Donations of food or money are also welcome at the church office from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays.


Lancaster Back to School Bash Aug. 11
The second annual Lancaster Back to School Bash will be from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Aug. 11 at USC Lancaster’s Bradley Building, 476 Hubbard Drive, Lancaster. Free shoes, backpacks, school supplies, haircuts and food will be provided. Kindergarten to 12th grade students and volunteers should register at www.lancasterbacktoschoolbash.com before July 23.

Grief support group meets in Lancaster
Journey Towards Healing, a six-week grief support group, meets at 6 p.m. Tuesdays through Aug. 14 at the Moriah Baptist Association, 914 W. Meeting St., Lancaster. For details, call Alice Robson at (803) 286-1472.

AA meets weekly at Belair UMC

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the social hall at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road. The meetings are open discussion, with speakers on third Wednesdays.

NAMI support groups meet
