White Oak barbecue fundraiser June 9

White Oak AME Zion Church, 1281 W. Rebound Road, Van Wyck, will hold a barbecue fundraiser 4-7 p.m. June 9. Plates cost $10 and include pulled pork barbecue, barbecue chicken or fried chicken wings, with a choice of two sides, dinner roll, dessert and soda. Sides include baked beans, greens beans, potato salad and coleslaw. All proceeds benefit the church.

Next JAARS Day open house is June 10

JAARS Day will begin at 9 a.m. June 10 at the JAARS headquarters, 7405 Jaars Road, Waxhaw. 

The event features family-friendly activities, lunch, an open house from 9 a.m.-4 p.m., missionary presentations and plane and helicopter rides. 

Admission is free, a five-seat plane ride is $20, helicopter ride is $22, a four-wheel-drive ride is $5 and lunch is $6.50. For details, visit www.JAARS.org/events/JAARS-DAY.

White Oak to hold day of fundraisers June 10

White Oak AME Zion Church, 1281 W. Rebound Road, Van Wyck, will hold a yard and bake sale 7-11 a.m. June 10, a car wash and hot dog sale 10 a.m.-4 p.m. and a dinner plate sale 3-7 p.m. All proceeds benefit the church.

Crossroads/Amazing Grace VBS June 25-30

Crossroads Lutheran Church and Amazing Grace Lutheran Church will hold a joint Vacation Bible School 6-8:30 p.m. June 25-30 at Amazing Grace, 416 W. North Main St., Waxhaw, N.C. Classes are for ages 4 to rising sixth-graders.

Pleasant Valley spaghetti fundraiser June 25

Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 211 Marvin Road, will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser at 6 p.m. June 25 in the church fellowship hall. 

Advance tickets cost $10 for adults and $5 for children ages 3-12. Tickets at the door are $12 for adults and $7 for children. All proceeds benefit the church youth’s foreign mission trip to Honduras in July. For details or to buy tickets, call (803) 548-7208.

St. John’s UMC plans summer kids’ activities

At St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1310 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, regular children’s events are on hold for the summer. 

The church will hold Vacation Bible School from June 19-23 and Summer Fine Arts Camp from July 17-21. 

There will be three Wacky Wednesdays that cost $5 each, including Out to the Movies for kindergarten-fifth grade July 12; PW’s Ice Cream for all children and their parents July 26; and a Slime Workshop for kindergarten-fifth grade Aug. 9. Each event is 10-11 a.m.

Belair UMC food pantry open June 15

The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, is open 9 a.m.-noon June 15 for those who live in the Indian Land and Harrisburg schools attendance area. Anyone in need of food is welcome. 

The pantry is open the first and third Thursday of each month. Donations of food or money are also welcome at the church office 9 a.m.-noon weekdays.

St. John’s offers summer art camps

St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1310 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold its Summer Fine Arts Camp 9 a.m.-1 p.m. July 17-21. 

Rising fourth- to eighth-graders will choose two focus groups, which include instrumental music, choral music, public speaking, photography, creative writing, visual arts and theater production elements.

Sign up now for mom’s morning out

Registration for Faith Presbyterian Church’s Mother’s Morning Out program for 2017-18 is open for children who will be 2 or 3 years old as of Sept. 1, 2017.

The class of eight children and two teachers meets 9 a.m.-noon Wednesdays during the school year. Cost is $50 per month.

AA meets at Belair UMC on Wednesdays

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the social hall at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road. The meetings are open discussion, with speakers on the third Wednesday of the month.

Crossroads prayer garden open to public

The Community Prayer Garden on the grounds of Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road, is open to the public from 8 a.m. to sunset each day. St. John’s offers women’s Bible study

St. John’s United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, invites women to a Bible study 5:15-6 p.m. Wednesday in the men’s Sunday school room. The study discusses how the Bible speaks to women and their issues. For details, contact Margaret Bryson at magbryson@gmail.com.

Belair UMW invites women to meetings

Belair United Methodist Women meet at 10:30 a.m. the second Wednesday and 7 p.m. the second Thursday of each month in the family life center at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road.

All women are invited to attend the meeting time of their choice for uplifting programs and social interaction.

Praying for America on Wednesdays

Praying for America is noon-1 p.m. Wednesdays at the Moriah Baptist Association, 914 W. Meeting St., Lancaster. The prayers are focused on the moral and spiritual direction of America. For details, call (803) 287-8099.
