Mad Matters meet May 2
The Mad Matters ministry of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Highway, Indian Land, meets 1-3 p.m. May 2 (first and third Thursday of each month) in the fellowship hall to make waterproof mats for the homeless.
Belair UMC pantry open May 2
Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, opens its food pantry for Indian Land residents 9 a.m.-noon May 2 (first and third Thursday of each month). Food or cash donations may be dropped off at the church office 9 a.m.-noon weekdays.
Faith Presbyterian to show ‘Sing!’ May 4
Faith Presbyterian Church, 7520 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land, invites everyone to its Family Movie Night at 7 p.m. May 4 for a free showing of “Sing!” Kids are welcome to bring blankets to sit on for this indoor movie in the church office building. Popcorn and bottled water will be provided.
Byzantines meet Saturdays
The Ruthenian Byzantine Catholic Church’s Divine Liturgy is 4 p.m. Saturdays in the parish center at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 E. Munn Road, Fort Mill.
An explanation of the Eastern Church, part of the universal church in union with Rome, is May 4 (first Saturday of the month), along with a coffee social after the liturgy and children’s activities during the talk. St. John’s UMC announces events
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 160 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, announces the following events:

• A Scholastic Book Fair will be 9 a.m.-1 p.m. May 6-10, and 5-7 p.m. May 8. Books are available for all ages.
• Salkahatchie sign-ups are open. St. John’s volunteers will work in Fairfield County July 13-21. Salkahatchie is a UMC mission that began 41 years ago with a group of young and old volunteers who work tirelessly to make homes drier, safer and warmer for those without the means to do it themselves. • Registration is open for the children’s Summer Arts Fair, led by Kathie Riebe, on July 8-12. Activities include photography, music, writing and art. Details available at www.stjohnsfm.org.

• The VIPs (seniors) are planning a four-day, three-night trip to Lancaster, Pa., on Oct 2-3. Senior Adult Spring Revival
The Moriah Baptist Association will hold a Senior Adult Spring Revival at 11 a.m. May 10 at Crestview Baptist Church, 2228 Douglas Road, Lancaster, followed by a sandwich lunch. The Rev. Tim Dipple will provide music and the Rev. Casey Swails will preach. Tickets for lunch are $5 each, available at the Moriah Missions Center until May 9. Each church is asked to bring one dessert per eight people attending.

Faith Presbyterian events

• Youth in grades six through 12 meet 5-7 p.m. May 12 (second and fourth Sundays of the month) for activities, study and service projects.
• The women’s Bible study meets at 11 a.m. May 13 (second Monday of each month) at the church. It is studying the Psalms this year.
• Elementary-age kids are invited to “Super Sunday” 1:30-3 p.m. May 19 (third Sunday of each month) at the church office. This club for kindergarten through fifth-graders explores Scripture through music, art, recreation and Bible study.

OLOG hosts fellowships
Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Highway, Lancaster, holds a weekly fellowship at 12:30 p.m. after the noon Mass on Thursdays.
The church also hosts a monthly hospitality with doughnuts after the Sunday 11 a.m. Mass on May 26?. Coffee and doughnuts are served at noon. All are welcome.

Alzheimer’s group meets
The Alzheimer’s Caregiver’s Support Group of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, 238 Fort Mill Highway, Indian Land, meets at 7 p.m. May 16 (third Thursday each month) in the church library. It offers support to those caring for loved ones with dementia.
Connection seeks volunteers
