OLOG posts coming events

Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Highway, will hold the following upcoming events:

- The church will hold a Mardi Gras festival at noon Feb. 11.

- OLOG Book Club meets 1-2 p.m. Mondays.

- The “Kingdom of Happiness” eight-week course is 1 p.m. Thursdays through March 15 and 5:30 p.m. Sundays through March 18. Study guide costs $25.

St. John’s UMC posts events 

St. John’s United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold these events:

• The United Methodist Women will sell chicken pot pies Feb. 11. A full-size pie is $16; an individual pie is $10. Sign up in the communication area outside the sanctuary. Proceeds benefit women’s mission projects.

• The book club will meet Feb. 12 in the men’s Bible classroom to discuss “The Saturday Evening Girls Club” by Jane Healy. Charlotte Adkins will lead the meeting. Everyone who wishes to discuss the book is welcome.

• The middle school and high school youth at St. John’s will hold a Shrove Tuesday pancake supper 5-7 p.m. Feb. 13 in the church's fellowship hall. Donations will be used for the youth's Salkahatchie mission, which repairs homes for those unable to. The youth will also sell Easter lilies on Feb. 18. 

• The annual Chili Cook Off is Feb. 25 in the fellowship hall. For details, email Bryan Meador at meadorbunch@comporium.net.

• Registration for Wee School is now open. For details, email Beth Meador at sjumcweeschool@gmail.com. 

• Plans are being made to offer the Disciple 1 Bible Study in the new year. It is a 32-week, in-depth course. It may be split into two sessions – one in the spring and one in the fall. If you have never taken one of the disciple classes, consider signing up for this one. Sign-up sheets will be available in the lobby.

• Family Ministries will be sponsoring a weekend retreat at Asbury Hills on March 2-4. Sign up in the hallway near the sanctuary. A minimum of 20 people need to sign up for this to be held.

Faith hosts Lenten study 

Faith Presbyterian Church, 7520 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land, will hold a Lenten Bible Study at 7 p.m. Tuesdays Feb. 20-March 20 in the church sanctuary. 

The study is on “The Path to the Cross” by Ray VanderLaan. Each study includes a video, in which VanderLaan shares a part of the landscape of Israel and how that helps us understand Scripture. For details or to sign up and order a book, call (803) 548-8810.

NAMI support groups meet

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Family Support Group meets 7-8:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month in Room 203 at Transformation Church, 8978 Charlotte Highway. For details, contact Sue Korn at (704) 575-5928 or suekorn08@gmail.com.

NAMI’s Connections (for adults with mental health conditions) and Family Support groups meet the first Monday and third Thursday of each month at First Presbyterian Church, 700 N. Main St., Lancaster. For details, visit www.namipiedmont.com.

Senior meeting Feb. 13

The Moriah Baptist Association will hold a senior adult inspirational meeting at 11 a.m. Feb. 13 at Springdell Baptist Church, 1420 Springdale Road, Lancaster, with lunch to follow. The Rev. and Mrs. Steve Warren, former Eastern Europe missionaries, will speak. Tickets for a sub sandwich meal are $5, available at the Mission Center, 914 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, until Feb. 6. Crossroads holds Shrove Tuesday, Ash Wednesday events
Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road, invites all to its Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday events:
• Shrove Tuesday, Feb. 13 – Pancake dinner at 6 p.m. (donation), followed by Burning of the Palms, 7 p.m.
• Ash Wednesday, Feb. 14 – Ashes to Go, 10:30-11:30 a.m.; drive through the church parking lot to receive the imposition of ashes and a  blessing. Services at noon at Crossroads; 7 p.m. at its partner congregation, Amazing Grace Lutheran, 416 W. North Main St., Waxhaw, N.C.

Belair food pantry Feb. 15

The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, is open 9 a.m.-noon Feb. 15 for those who live in the Indian Land and Harrisburg schools attendance area. Anyone in need of food is welcome. Donations of food or money are also welcome at the church office from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays.

AA meets at Belair UMC

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the social hall at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road. The meetings are open discussion with speakers on the third Wednesday of the month.

Next JAARS Day March 10

The next JAARS Day is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 10 at 7405 JAARS Road, Waxhaw, N.C. The open house will feature missionary stories, rides in an airplane, helicopter, boat or four-wheel-drive vehicle, media demonstrations in various languages, children’s activities, ethnic clothes and musical instruments from other cultures and visits to the Museum of the Alphabet and the Mexico-Cardenas Museum. Temple Solel services

Temple Solel, a Reform Jewish congregation, holds its services at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill, and holds Shabbat services at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of each month in the St. Phillip Neri community room. Catholics add 5th service
