Red Rose Festival is this weekend in Lancaster

The Red Rose Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary May 17-18 with a weekend of family fun in the Cultural Arts District of Lancaster. The free two-day music festival also features children’s rides and activities, arts and crafts, vendors, a photo contest, pageant, dog show, car show and more. 
The festival is 6-10:30 p.m. Friday, starting with the photo contest winners announcement at 6 p.m., and Rosie the Rabbit’s 10th birthday at 6:30 p.m. The pageant is at 7 p.m., followed by local favorite Whits End.  
The 5K Race for Charity begins at 7:45 a.m. Saturday at Lancaster High School.
The festival opens at 10 a.m. Saturday with the dog show at the Lancaster History Museum and the car show on South Main Street. There will be free rides, games and activities for kids at the Learning Zone and a book give-away at the historic post office.
The festival will offer shopping and food vendors. Native artisans will sell art, do demonstrations and tell stories at the Native American Studies Center.
The first Red Rose Festival Beard and Mustache Contest is at 1 p.m. on the main stage, before the music begins at 3 p.m. with Friction, followed by SugarShine at 5 p.m., Triple Play Band at 7 p.m. and Color Me Badd at 9 p.m. It ends with fireworks at 10 p.m.
