Piranhas swim in finale Saturday

The Lancaster County Piranhas swim team, 1-2, fell to Rock Hill Country Club, 376-212, on Thursday, June 20, in its final home meet of the season at the county pool in Lancaster.
The Piranhas were paced by Fletcher Armbrust, Alex Trimnal and Tamra Tipton, who had three wins each in the meet.
Hadlee Stroud, Madison Faulkenberry, Matthew Prete and Andrew Bell had two firsts apiece to aid the Piranhas.
The team also won three relay events in the meet.
The Piranhas, open to swimmers throughout Lancaster County, has three Indian Land swimmers: freshman Andrew Bell, sophomore Diana Kiger and Liliana Kiger, who swims in the 9/10 girls category.
In Thursday’s meet, Bell won the 13-14 boys individual medley and breaststroke. He came in second in the butterfly.
Diana Kiger placed fourth in the 15-18 girls individual medley, fifth in the backstroke and sixth in the butterfly.
Final meets
The Piranhas, 1-2 on the season, swam at Tega Cay on Monday, June 24, to cap the regular season.
The Piranhas will swim in the Metrolina Finale Meet at the Rock Hill Aquatics Center on Saturday, June 29. The 10-under meet begins at 8:30 a.m., with the 11-up meet beginning at 1 p.m.
Piranhas fall to River Hills
The Piranhas posted a 391-196 home loss to the River Hills Country Club team June 13.
The Piranhas were led by Fletcher Armbrust and Tamra Tipton, with three wins each.
Matthew Prete, Andrew Bell and Tyler Tipton each had two wins in the meet.
Bell won the individual medley and breaststroke, and came in second in the butterfly.
Piranhas open with win
The Lancaster County swim team opened its 2019 season June 10 with a 280-269 road win over the Landing Gators at the Lake Wylie Pool.
The Lancaster County Piranhas were led by Fletcher Armbrust, Selah Harding and Tyler Tipton, who each had three firsts in the win.
Hadlee Stroud, Matthew Prete and Andrew Bell each posted two firsts in the meet.
The Piranhas boys outscored the Landing Gators boys, 138-123, while the The Landing Gators girls prevailed over the Lancaster Piranhas, 146-142, for the combined 280-269 win.
Bell won the individual medley and breaststroke for 13-14 boys. He came in second in the butterfly.
Diana Kiger won the breaststroke in the 15-18 girls category. She came in second in freestyle and individual medley.
Liliana Kiger placed sixth in the breaststroke  for 9-10 girls.
Practice meet results
In the Piranhas’ practice meet June 3, Bell and Diana Kiger each won the freestyle in their age groups.
Bell won the individual medley and butterfly, while Kiger placed second in both. Kiger won the breaststroke, while Bell came in second. Both placed third in the backstroke.
The team, sponsored by the Lancaster County Parks and Recreation, is led by coach Katie Knox, assisted by Cami Armbrust, the Kershaw pool coach.
Assistant swim coaches are Morgan Ledford and Alaina Houghtaling for the 10-under swimmers, and Abbi Denyer and Samuel Page for 11-up swimmers.
