Filing open through Aug. 14 for IL seats

Don McCorkle will not seek a fourth term on the Lancaster County school board.
“I’ve been on long enough, and it’s just time,” said McCorkle, who represents Indian Land on the board, along with Melvin Stroble.
“I’m sure someone will come along who can represent the residents in District 7 well,” he said last week.
Filing opened at noon Aug. 1 for four local nonpartisan school board seats (Districts 1, 3, 5 and 7) in the Nov. 6 general election.
