Lady Warriors fall in Upper State soccer semifinals

Powdersville High School scored a second-half goal and made it stand in a 1-0 home win over Indian Land High School in the Class AAA Upper State girls soccer semifinals Friday, May 3, at PHS.
Sydnee Barrett scored in the 65th minute for the lone goal of the match in the narrow win.
Indian Land had 14 shots on goal to 15 for Powdersville.
ILHS keeper Serenity Collier had 12 saves in the match.
The Lady Warriors finished 12-11 on the season.
Powdersville downed Woodruff, 4-2, on May 6 to win the Class AAA Upstate title.
Bishop England High School of Charleston beat Academic Magnet, 4-3, to win the Lower State title.
Bishop England beat Powdersville, 4-1, on Saturday, May 11, at Irmo High School’s W.C. Hawkins Stadium.
Last match for Bonda
The match was Mark Bonda’s final game as head coach of the ILHS girls soccer team. Bonda, 36, recently announced his resignation after 13 seasons with the Lady Warriors.
Bonda and his wife, Lisa, had a daughter, Harlow, earlier this year, and he wants to devote more time to his family.
In his 12 years as the Lady Warriors head coach, Bonda achieved a 176-73-8 mark, with a Class AAA state title in 2017 and two Class AAA Upper State crowns.
Bonda’s resignation was effective with the Lady Warriors team banquet Tuesday, May 14.
