The Indian Land High School junior varsity football team fell to 1-2 on the season, dropping a 24-0 home loss to Rock Hill High School on Thursday, Sept. 6, at the ILHS Reservation.

“We’re battling through some injuries right now and that’s having an impact because we’re having to move some of our players around,” Indian Land JV coach Bakari Burton said. “We’ve been hit hard with injuries at quarterback, but it’s the next man up and keep playing. I thought we had good effort in the game.

“Our kids battled and I was proud of them,” Burton said.

Drew Hardin had an interception to aid the Junior Warriors in the loss.

Indian Land, which opened its season with a 39-8 road win over Buford on Aug. 23, dropped its first defeat in a 21-6 home loss to York on Aug. 30.

Burton said Kendrick Armstrong scored the Junior Warriors’ touchdown on a 10-yard run against the Junior Cougars last week.

Indian Land will return to play at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, when the Junior Warriors host Nation Ford High School.
