Sign up now for free EMS Academy

Lancaster County EMS will host a free four-week EMS Academy starting Sept. 6. This evening class will give an inside view of how the Emergency Medical Service works. It will include information on the functions of EMS in Lancaster County, local equipment and units, and basic life-saving techniques.
If you are interested in a career in EMS, want to volunteer to help in the community, or are just interested in learning about Lancaster County EMS, you are invited to attend this class. Class size will be limited to 20 people. For registration or details, call Melody Blackmon at (803) 416-9908.

CCA offers help with energy bills

The Lancaster County Office of Carolina Community Actions Inc. is taking applications to help low-income families with home energy bills and other programs and services.
Family households must be income-eligible and provide supporting documents to qualify.

Recover property from sheriff’s office

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office advertises found property on its website, www.lacoso.net. A list of the property, which has been recovered by deputies and placed into evidence for safekeeping, can be seen in the news section of the sheriff’s office website.
Rightful owners can contact the evidence and property unit at (803) 313-2102 to describe the item and claim ownership. The sheriff’s office is allowed by state law to dispose of the property after a 90-day period, after exhausting all reasonable efforts to find the legal owner.
