IL fire district board meets Aug. 21
The Indian Land Fire Protection District Board meets at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at the Indian Land Fire Station, 185 Six Mile Creek Road, Indian Land.
County Council meets Aug. 26
Lancaster County Council meets at 6 p.m. Aug. 26 in council chambers at the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster. The agenda is posted in the lobby of the county building and on the county website, mylancastersc.org.

Airport Commission special meeting Aug. 28

The Lancaster County Airport Commission will hold a special meeting at 3:30 p.m. Aug. 28  in the Lancaster County Airport conference room located at 286 Aviation Blvd., Lancaster.
Zoning appeals board meets Sept. 3
The Lancaster County Board of Zoning Appeals meets at 6 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster.
Van Wyck Town Council meets Sept. 3
The Van Wyck Town Council will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 3 at the Van Wyck Community Center, 5036 Old Hickory Road, Van Wyck.
Van Wyck groups won’t meet
The Van Wyck Crime Watch and the Van Wyck Community Development Club will not meet in September. Their meetings will resume in October.
County Planning Commission to meet Sept. 5
The Lancaster County Planning Commission meets at 5 p.m. Sept. 5, in the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster. This will be the group’s monthly workshop to discuss the agenda for its next meeting at 6 p.m. Sept. 17. For details, call (803) 285-6005.

The Lancaster County Fire Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 5 at the Emergency Operations Center, 111 Covenant Place, Lancaster.
Conservation board meets Sept. 9
The Lancaster Soil and Water Conservation District board meets at 7 p.m. Sept. 9 at 1771 U.S. 521 Bypass South, Lancaster. The public is invited. Call (803) 286-4455, ext. 100, for details.
IL Service Center posts schedule
Lancaster County departments are open at the Indian Land Service Center, 8451 Charlotte Highway, as follows:
• Stormwater Department, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday-Friday
• Veterans Affairs, 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursdays, by appointment only; call (803) 283-2469 for an appointment.
• Treasurer’s Office, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Sept. 10 (second Tuesday each month), closed 1-2 p.m. for lunch
Treasurer’s staff at IL service center
The Lancaster County Treasurer’s Office staff is available at the Indian Land Service Center on the second Tuesday of each month (Sept. 10). Tax payments are accepted 9 a.m.-4 p.m. that day. The office is closed 1-2 p.m. for lunch.
Payments can be made via check, money order, cashier’s checks or credit/debit cards. Cash payments are not accepted at the Indian Land Service Center. Payments made via credit or debit card have a processing fee of 2.6 percent and a 30-cent transaction fee, charged by the third-party.
Lancaster County taxpayers may also pay their taxes online at www.mylancastersctax.org with credit or debit cards, as well as with e-Check. The e-Check service has a third-party processing fee of $1.50 per transaction. Tax payments may also be mailed to P.O. Box 729, Lancaster, SC 29721.
Council committees to meet Sept. 10
Lancaster County Council committees meet Sept. 10 as follows in the council conference room at the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Main St., Lancaster, as follows:  
• Infrastructure and Regulation Committee, noon
• Public Safety Committee, 5 p.m. 
• Administration Committee, 6 p.m.
Rec advisory board meets Sept. 10

The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Department Advisory Board meets at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 10 at Springdale Recreation Complex, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster. For details, call (803) 285-5545.

The Lancaster County Historical Commission meets at 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at the Historic Courthouse, 100 N. Main St., Lancaster.
IL Republicans meet Sept. 12
The Indian Land Republicans will meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 12 at Hickory Tavern, 8364 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land. They will hear from local GOP elected officials. Follow Indian Land Republican Women on Facebook to watch live.

Recover property from sheriff’s office

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office advertises found property on its website, www.lacoso.net. A list of the property, which has been recovered by deputies and placed into evidence for safekeeping, can be seen in the news section of the sheriff’s office website.
Rightful owners can contact the evidence and property unit at (803) 313-2102 to describe the item and claim ownership. The sheriff’s office is allowed by state law to dispose of the property after a 90-day period, after exhausting all reasonable efforts to find the legal owner.
