Veterans Affairs to close for holidays
The Lancaster County Veterans Affairs Office, 1033 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, will be closed through Dec. 26 in observance of Christmas, and closed Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day.
County offices to close for holidays
Lancaster County offices will be closed through Dec. 26 for Christmas and Jan. 1 for New Year’s Day. Normal business hours will resume Dec. 27 and Jan. 2. Emergency services – fire, police and EMS – will operate normal hours.

Spaces are available for Learning Lancaster, a free 14-week civics course for county residents. The course gives participants an opportunity to learn about the multi-faceted services of Lancaster County. Topics include tax dollars, court systems, county services and more. Fire Commission meets Jan. 3
The Lancaster County Fire Commission will meet at 7 p.m. Jan. 3 in the Emergency Operations Center, 111 Covenant Place, Lancaster.
Conservation district board to meet Jan. 7

Van Wyck groups won’t meet 
The Van Wyck Crime Watch and the Van Wyck Community Development Club won’t meet in January. Both groups’ next meetings will be Feb. 5 at the Van Wyck Community Center, 5036 Old Hickory Road.
County Historical Commission meets
The Lancaster County Historical Commission will meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Lancaster County Historic Courthouse, 100 N. Main St., Lancaster.
Recreation advisory board meets Jan. 8
The Lancaster Recreation Advisory Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Springdale Recreation Center, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster.
IL Republican Women meet Jan. 10
The Indian Land Republican Women won’t meet in December. The group’s next meeting is 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at Midtown Sundries, 9789 Charlotte Highway, Indian Land. For details, follow the group on Facebook.

U.S. House District 5 Rep. Ralph Norman’s staff offers legislative constituent services 9-11 a.m. Feb. 5 (first Tuesday of the month) in the Lancaster County Administration Building, 101 N. Recover property from sheriff’s office

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office advertises found property on its website, www.lacoso.net. A list of the property, which has been recovered by deputies and placed into evidence for safekeeping, can be seen in the news section of the sheriff’s office website.
Rightful owners can contact the evidence and property unit at (803) 313-2102 to describe the item and claim ownership. The sheriff’s office is allowed by state law to dispose of the property after a 90-day period, after exhausting all reasonable efforts to find the legal owner.
