IL runners sweep meet with Bruins

The Indian Land High School cross country teams swept their home meet with Lancaster High School on Sept. 25. The Indian Land girls team won with 18 points to Lancaster’s 37. The IL boys team won with 17 points to Lancaster’s 38.
Indian Land’s Hannah Sawyer won the girls race with a time of 23:37. Mattie-Baile Tripp finished second at 24:10,  Lauren Sizemore fourth at 25:27, Sara Valle fifth at 26:04, Chloe Duernberger sixth at 26:21, Baileigh Sizemore seventh at 26:41, Caprielle Terry eighth at 27:14 and Olivia Morales 10th at 27:20.
Indian Land’s Walker Reeves won the boys race with a time of 18:56. Maddox Yegge finished second at 19:22, Ben Elson third at 20:02, Jaxon Barringer fifth at 20:30, Noah Kiger sixth at 20:39, Jared Diemer ninth at 22:02, and Andrew LaFollette 10th at 22:06. 
Other IL girls who finished the race were: Jolie Garmon 29:23, Julia Brown 29:34, Chloe Cockman 30:23, Zoe Campbell 32:04, Blakely Hardin 32:43, Danielle Griffith 32:43, Ariela Gonzalez 33:03, Anna Connors 36:52, Carly Case 37:22 and Maithili Bhoop 37:25.
Other IL boys who finished the race were: Alex Krull 22:16, Liam Bayley 22:26, Nathan Wardy 22:48, Isiah Phifer 23:07, Allen Livingston 23:14, Peter Campbell 23:35, David Pohlheber 23:42, Jacob Sisler 23:48, Conner Stebbins 23:57, James Malinowski 24:25, Nathan Powell 24:32, Tanner Mclaughlin 24:55, Feliz Gonzalez 25, Ethan Geiger 25:01, Jesse Bellflower 25:30, Kalob Jefferson 25:40, Peter Stein 25:41, Scott Hansen 26:55, Logan Preddy 28:25, Logan Thompson 29:36, Max Vogel 30:15,  Preston Remien 37:10 and Dillon Thrower 38:22.
The Warriors faced the Bruins again Tuesday, Oct. 2, in Lancaster.
Hare & Hounds Invitational
The Indian Land cross country teams competed in the Hare & Hounds Invitational on Sept. 22 at McAlpine Park in Charlotte. The IL girls placed 27 out of 29 teams, while the IL boys placed 38 out of 40 teams in the championship races.
Sophomore Lauren Sizemore led the Lady Warriors, finishing with a time of 23:08. Chloe Duernberger 23:13, Baileigh Sizemore 23:37, Sara Valle 23:53, Caprielle Terry 24:52, and Olivia Morales also competed for the IL girls in the championship race.
Junior Walker Reeves led the Warriors, finishing with a time of 18:12. Maddox Yegge 18:50, Jaxon Barringer 19:48, Noah Kiger 19:56, Allen Livingston 20:53, and Jared Diemer also competed for the IL boys in the championship race.
Seventh-grader Chloe Cockman led the IL girls in the open race with a time of 29. Jolie Garmon 29:07, Julia Brown 29:33, Carly Cabe 31:22, Zoe Campbell 31:34, Ariela Gonzalez 32:14, Audrey Remien 34:04, Caroline Romack, and Anna Connors 39:39 also competed for IL in the open race.
Freshman David Pohlheber led the IL boys in the open race at 21:48. Andrew LaFollette 21:59, James Malinowski 22:17, Connor Stebbins 22:37, Peter Campbell 22:55, Ethan Geiger 23:01, Liam Bayley 23:15, Nathan Wardy 23:22, Felix Gonzalez 24:16, Nathan Powell 24:26, Tanner McLaughlin 24:31, Jacob Sisler 24:36, Peter Stein 24:46, Scott Hansen 25:33, Logan Thompson 29:03, Preston Remien 33:45 and Dillon Thrower 38:19 for IL in the open race.
