IL runners race to win 5-way meet

The Indian Land High School cross country teams swept a five-way meet Oct. 2 at Lancaster High School.
The Lady Warriors placed first with a score of 17 points. Buford High School finished second with 59, and Lancaster third with 62 points. 
The Warriors placed first with 20 points, Lancaster second with 50 points, Andrew Jackson High School third with 71 points, Buford fourth with 97 points, and Lewisville fifth with 155 points.
ILHS junior Hannah Sawyer placed first overall in the girls race with a time of 22:00. IL’s Mattie-Baile Tripp came in second at 22:06, followed by teammate Baileigh Sizemore third at 23:00. IL’s Chloe Duernberger placed fifth at 23:09, Sara Valle sixth at 23:18, Lauren Sizemore eighth at 23:28, Olivia Morales ninth at 24:58 and Caprielle Terry 11th at 25:57.
Jolie Garmon 27:29, Chloe Cockman 28:17, Julia Brown 28:24, Danielle Griffith 28:48, Blakely Hardin 29:38, Zoe Campbell 30:34, Audrey Remien 32:30, Caroline Romack 32:58, Maithili Bhoop 33:50 and Anna Connors 34:37 also competed for the ILHS girls team.
ILHS junior Walker Reeves placed first overall in the boys race with a personal-best time of 17:48. IL’s Maddox Yegge placed second with a personal-best time of 17:53. Teammate Ben Elson finished third at 18:19, a new personal best for him. Indian Land’s Jaxon Barringer placed fifth at 18:55.
Noah Kiger 19:23, Jared Diemer 20:28, Allen Livingston 20:40, Alexander Krull 20:56, Nathan Wardy 21:10, William Bayley 21:16, James Malinowski 21:17, Jesse Bellflower 21:18, Peter Campbell 21:24, Ethan Geiger 21:55, Isiah Phifer 22:01, Jacob Sisler 22:33, David Pohlheber 22:27, Asael Gonzalez 22:51, Kalob Jefferson 23:03, Tanner McLaughlin 23:21, Connor Stebbins 23:34, Nathan Powell 23:36, Peter Stein 23:44, Scott Hansen 26:01, Logan Preddy 26:48, Max Vogel 27:57, Logan Thompson 28:56, Preston Remien 32:31, Dillon Thrower 32:36 also competed for the ILHS boys team.
The ILHS cross country teams competed in the Wendy’s Invitational on Saturday, Oct. 6, at McAlpine Creek Park in Charlotte.
