Indian Land High School junior golfer Cara Hasty shot a 100 in the Class AAA state tournament Oct. 23-24 at River Falls Golf Club in Duncan. She was 49th out of 108 golfers in the state tourney.
She qualified at the Upper State AAA tournament Oct. 16 at Greenwood Country Club, shooting a 100 there.
“Cara has improved her game tremendously and we look forward to her doing well in the state competition and even better next year,” ILHS golf coach Dennis Bivins said.
He said Hasty, who plays with the Lancaster chapter of the S.C. Junior Golf Association, plans to compete on the ILHS boys team this spring, as she did last season.
“I expect Cara will continue to improve,” Bivins said.
Hasty’s play was Indian Land High’s first attempt at girls golf.
“She was our only individual who came out for the season,” Bivins said. “We hope next year we’ll have a full team. Of course, we would like more support from the community and from players.”
