The Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church’s Women’s Group hosted the  annual Thanksgiving food drive to benefit the Indian Land community.
Church members donated 7,145 pounds of food, which was distributed to families at Indian Land Middle and High schools, Brooklyn Springs Elementary, South Middle and Lancaster High schools, as well as Lancaster Children’s Home, HOPE, Christian Services, St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, David Stand Zion Church, Belair United Methodist Church’s food pantry, and those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Harris Teeter donated the bags, while Pike’s Nursery and an anonymous church member donated the boxes to pack the canned goods.
The Knights of Columbus Council 14675 offered assistance with sorting, weighing and transporting food to various agencies.
Many church members, including ushers, Faith Formation groups and the Home School Group came together to provide help sorting, packing, and delivering all the food.
The yearly event collects food donations at all Masses two weeks before Thanksgiving, seeking items such as canned vegetables and fruits, pasta sauce, fruit juice, cereal, pasta, oatmeal, rice, crackers, soups, boxed meals, peanut butter and tuna.
