Broome downs ILHS in softball playoffs

Broome High School ignited for three first-inning runs and added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings to take a 5-1 win over host Indian Land High School in the winner’s bracket round of the Class AAA Upper State title softball playoffs Monday, May 6.
The ILHS loss sends the Lady Warriors to an elimination game home contest with Union County High School on Wednesday, May 8.
A win over Union will send the Lady Warriors, 19-5, to the Class AAA Upper State title game against Broome.
Union, which fell to Indian Land, 10-3, on Friday, May 3, stayed alive with a 4-1 home win over Crescent in an elimination round game Monday.
The Indian Land vs. Union County winner advances to play host Broome on Friday, May 10.
Union’s Bailey Betenbaugh hurled a three-hitter and struck out six to lead the Lady Yellow Jackets to the win over Crescent.
Union County was led by Addy Farrell with two hits and four RBIs.
