The Indian Land High School Lady Warriors soccer team and the Lancaster High School Bruins golf team were The Lancaster News’ Most Outstanding Teams for 2018.
Coach Mark Bonda led Indian Land High School to a return trip to the Class AAA girls state championship soccer match to defend the Lady Warriors Class AAA girls soccer title, but fell short in its quest for repeat state gold at Irmo High School’s W.C. Hawkins Stadium.
The Lady Warriors, who defeated Brookland-Cayce High School of Columbia for the 2017 Class AAA state title, couldn’t make it two straight, dropping a 3-0 loss to Class AAA Lower State girls soccer power Bishop England High School of Charleston.
The Lady Warriors finished 19-4-1.
The ILHS girls, in their postseason run to a second-straight Class AAA Upper State soccer title and a bid to the state title match, outscored four foes, 32-0, including a 6-0 road win over Woodruff High School.
