from Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office release

Personnel from the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, Lancaster County Fire and Rescue, Lancaster Fire Department and Lancaster County Emergency Medical Services will be engaged in active shooter training at Van Wyck Elementary School, 4945 Charlotte Highway, each Tuesday and Thursday during daylight hours beginning today, June 11, for the next three weeks.

The training dates are June 11, 13, 18, 20, 25 and 27.

The training follows the sheriff’s office regular training schedule, and off-duty personnel from all four agencies are scheduled to attend one of the training days.

“On these training days, the public might see a large presence of first responder personnel, vehicles and equipment at Van Wyck Elementary,” said Sheriff Barry Faile.  “We want the public to know in advance that these are training activities and no public safety emergency exists.

“I also want to assure our citizens that personnel from all participating agencies have been scheduled for this training in a manner that ensures all shifts are fully staffed and routine patrols and emergency responses will continue uninterrupted.”
