    Temple Solel Shabbat service Friday
    Temple Solel, a Reform Jewish congregation, will hold a Kabbalat Shabbat service at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at in the ministry building of St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road in Fort Mill.
    Services are held the second and fourth Fridays of the month. Religious school is held at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays.

    Belair UMC food pantry open Thursday
    The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, will be open from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, Dec. 6, for families in the Indian Land schools area. If you are in need or know somebody in need of food, please come by. Donations to help replenish the supplies also welcome.
    Belair holds Sunday school at 9:30 a.m. and worship service at 10:30 a.m. each Sunday. For details, call (803) 547-6631.

    Pan-Hellenic Council holiday event Sunday
    The Pan-Hellenic Council of Lancaster will hold a Christmas celebration at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 2, at Mount Zion AME Zion Church, 317 E. Barr St., Lancaster. The program will include soloist and music director Gayle A. Gordon; the Rev. Eddie Moore, pastor of St. John Baptist Church at Liberty Hill; trumpeter and musical instructor Lafayette Thrower of Lancaster and gospel choirs from Steele Hill and New Hope AME Zion churches. There is no charge for the event.

    Crossroads is Operation Christmas Child drop-off site
    Crossroads Lutheran Church, 8511 Shelley Mullis Road, will serve as the Operation Christmas Child shoebox drop-off site during National Collection Week. The site will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. through Nov. 19.

    Reform congregation to meet Friday
    Temple Solel, a Reform Jewish congregation, will hold a Shabbat service at 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 26, at St. Phillip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill, in the ministry building adjacent to the fellowship hall.
    Services are held the second and fourth Fridays of the month. The first is a Kabbalat Shabbat; the second a Midrash Shabbat, or learner’s Shabbat.
    Religious classes for children in kindergarten through B’nai Mitvzvah training are at 6:30 p.m. Thursdays.

    Church celebrates 256-year history

    Old Waxhaw Presbyterian Church, 2814 Old Hickory Road, celebrated its 256-year history with a homecoming service Sunday, Oct. 14. The speaker was Mike Blackmon of Florence, with special singing by the Childers Family of Lockhart. A fellowship dinner followed the service and singing.

    The church held revival this week with the Rev. Shane Owens on Monday, Oct. 15, and the Rev. Harris Ricks of Douglas Presbyterian Church on Tuesday, Oct. 16.

    Churches hold food distribution Thursday
    Fatih Presbyterian and Belair United Methodist churches of Indian Land will host a Second Harvest food distribution beginning about 9 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, in the parking lot of Belair UMC, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, a half mile east of U.S. 521 at the Food Lion traffic light.
    Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and continues until the food is gone, so plan to come early.
