Whittlesey column: Wake up, America!

This is in response to Sheila Bickford’s Oct. 26 column, “Why hasn’t our congressman supported American Jobs Act?”
 Under the leadership of President Barack Obama and the liberal Democrats, they have driven America to its knees. A person, household, business or corporation cannot spend itself out of debt by borrowing more money. That is exactly what this administration is doing. It used to be thousands, then upped to millions, then billions, now it is trillions that Washington politicians waste, thrown away into the vacuum of greed.
The government cannot make or produce anything, including jobs. Only the private sector is capable of doing that. Everything that the government has had its hands into is bankrupt.
No one agency in the government is able to turn a profit – never has and never will.  Three major players are responsible for the complete meltdown (destruction) of the housing market – Bill Clinton, Barney Frank and Chris Dodd – all free-spending liberal Democrats.  A lot of people got rich with this scam. The housing crisis is so bad that it will take generations to recover, if it ever will. Tens of millions of jobs were lost because of these three individuals.
Not to be left out, Obama gave over half a billion dollars to one of his pet projects, Solyndra, just one of many that have taken out government loans. But last August, Solyndra declared bankruptcy and put more than a thousand people out of work. Do you think this is the way to stimulate the economy? Again, certain people are getting rich from taxpayer dollars.
We need jobs in the private sector. They will stimulate the economy, not government jobs. This administration has increased the government jobs four times over. This jobs bill only borrows more money. This is not the way to get the economy going. The president knows how – simply cut corporate taxes, payroll taxes, capital gains taxes, etc., and wow, we can all go back to work. What a time to play politics – blaming the Republicans for shooting down his jobs bill when they are trying to hold back and stop spending. This bill did not pass because a good percentage of Democrats didn’t vote for it as well. And, if you remember the insane statement that Nancy Pelosi said on passing the Obama health-care bill: “Sign this health-care bill first before you know what is in it.” This bill will also continue to cripple our economy.
All the president does is campaign – he doesn’t seem to be worried about the country or the economy, although he shouts out all these empty promises. The problem is some people still believe him. Some realize that the change he promised is not the change they wanted – not when they have lost their jobs and homes and are living under a bridge.
 No one realizes that Obama is calling small business the rich, increasing their taxes and causing them to fail or simply not to hire. Not to mention, the hundreds, if not thousands, of government regulations he has just instituted also affect their ability to make a profit or stay in business. This is being done intentionally, whether you realize it or not. Small businesses provide most of the jobs in America. Have you ever known a poor man to give you a job?
Saul Alinsky wrote “Rules for Radicals,” a book he dedicated to the devil. Our president is very familiar with this book. This administration wants all of us under their thumb. Wake up, America! Do you want to sacrifice all your freedoms?
U.S. Congressman Mick Mulvaney deserves a lot of credit for jumping into the cauldron of the financial confusion of the Democrats, who have spent trillions of tax dollars like drunken fools for the past three years. Former U.S. Congressman John Spratt, now retired, spent 30 years in Washington. What “stop gap” measures did he put forth to prevent our dollar becoming worthless?
The only reason we still have a country, even one hanging by a thread, is because of good people like Mulvaney, who is a patriot, and the tea party folks who put their private lives aside, leave their families, go to Washington and try to weave that hanging thread into a rope of great size, while untangling the mess they find. It can be done, but first a clean sweep must be made in 2012. Obama and all the liberal socialist Democrats must be swept out of office. This is our last chance.
In all my 75 years, I never thought that a president of the United States would have a known communist on his staff.
A quote from Benjamin Franklin (230 years ago) applies to our situation today. He was quite right. At the signing of the Constitution, Franklin said:
“Sir, I agree to this Constitution, with all its faults, if they are such; because I think a general government necessary for us, and there is no form of government but what may be a blessing to the people, if well administered; and I believe, farther, that this is likely to be well administered for a course of years, and can only end in despotism, as other forms have done before it, when the people shall become so corrupted as to need despotic government, being incapable of any other.”
