Wasson letter: More foster homes are needed for pets

-A A +A

There was a heart-warming ending for the emaciated German shepherd that was cruelly pulled behind its owner’s vehicle. The Lancaster Humane Society embraced this boy and got him medical treatment and into a loving foster home.
The outpouring of concern from folks shows how many animal lovers there are in Lancaster County. But the real picture is not so bright. For every animal that makes the paper as this shepherd did, there are hundreds more that need help and never make the headlines.
The Humane Society works so hard to save as many animals as they physically can. It could save so many more from being put to sleep if there were more foster homes available.
If you can foster an animal, please call the Humane Society at (803) 285-5683 and help them save even more innocent animals that will make someone a best friend. We can’t save them all, but it sure makes a difference in the lives of those that are rescued.
