Warriors split in beach baseball tournament

The Indian Land High School baseball team went 2-2 in the Carolina Border Battle tournament in Myrtle Beach.
The Warriors opened play March 1 with a 9-6 win over Carolina Forest High School and capped play with a 6-5 win over A.L. Brown High School of Kannapolis, N.C., on March 3.
In the one-run win over A.L. Brown, Wes Barfield was the winning pitcher in seven innings of work. He allowed eight hits, five runs, four earned runs and two walks. He struck out four.
Lawson Otte led the offense with two hits and scored twice.
Chase Dougherty had a double and a RBI for the Warriors. Nolan Bolt drilled a double and scored a run.
Kyle Raynor had a hit, RBI and scored a run. Justin Cope had a hit and a RBI.
Connor Ouimet had a hit and Adam Morrison drove in a run. Jay Hildreth and Dawson Tate each scored a run.
The Warriors opened tourney play, taking a 9-6 win over Carolina Forest.
ILHS senior captain James Mulvaney blasted a grand slam to lead the Warriors.
Bolt, in 5.1 innings, struck out 11 for the win. He allowed two walks and a hit.
Daniel Gueldner earned the save.
Trey Boyd had three hits and scored a run. Raynor rapped a double.
Ouimet had a hit, two walks and scored three runs. Dougherty had a hit and scored a run. Cope added a hit.
Gueldner scored three runs in the ILHS win.
In between the two wins, the Warriors dropped a pair of 11-3 losses to High Point Christian Academy (N.C.) and West Brunswick (N.C.).
In the loss to High Point Christian, the Warriors were led by Dougherty, who had a hit and scored a run. Raynor and Cope each had a hit.
Ouimet had a RBI and scored a run. Hildreth drove in a run and Otte tallied a run.
In the game with West Brunswick, Bolt drilled two doubles and scored a run.
Cope belted a double and drove in a run.
David Loughry had a hit and two RBIs. Raynor had a hit and scored a run. Boyd had a hit and Ouimet tallied a run.
