Soccer dinner today, jamboree Saturday
The Lancaster County youth recreation spring soccer coaches dinner meeting is 6:45 p.m. today, Feb. 15, at the Springdale Recreation Center, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster.
The spring soccer jamboree is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Buford Recreation Center, 4073 Hurley Walters Road, Lancaster. The day includes pictures and a half-game scrimmage. For details, call (803) 285-5545.


Register now for Dixie Baseball     
    
Register this month for Lancaster Dixie Baseball, open to boys ages 5-14 as of May 1.
Registration will be 5:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 18, at the Lancaster Bowling Center, 1352 Reece Road, Lancaster, and beside Elmo’s, 4471 Pageland Highway, at Buford Crossroads.
Cost for 5- to 6-year-olds is $50. All others are $90. All players are required to pay $50 at the time of registration, with balances due by March 24.
Players may pay the $50 fee and sell raffle tickets for a Polaris Ranger RZR 570 Side by Side to reduce their fees. Drawing will be on opening day.


Register now for adult flag football leagues

Carolina Sports Association (CSA) is registering players now for its 2012 spring adult flag football leagues. CSA will offer a men’s flag football league on Fridays at the Springs Complex in Fort Mill beginning March 16.
CSA’s coed and men’s flag football leagues will meet Mondays and Thursdays at Cherry Park in Rock Hill beginning March 12 and 15.

4-Star Athletic Auction March 16

The first 4-Star Athletic Auction to benefit all four county high schools’ athletic programs will be held March 16 at the Fairway Room at the Lancaster Golf Club.
Doors open and silent auction begins at 6 p.m. The live auction begins at 8 p.m.
To attend, you must sponsor the event. Sponsorship levels are senior level ($5,000, 12 tickets for 24 people), junior level ($2,500, eight tickets for 16 people), sophomore level ($1,000, four tickets for eight people) and freshman level ($500, two tickets for four people).
Raffle tickets are $100 apiece and only 200 tickets will be sold. Top prize is $10,000 and the second prize is $5,000.

Girls travel softball team tryouts soon

Youth lacrosse team seeks players

Carolina Blackjax 10U baseball tryouts

Tryouts for the Carolina Blackjax 10-under baseball team, a Lancaster area traveling baseball team, will be held for the 2012 season.

Martial arts championships March 10

The 38th annual Universal Martial Arts championships will be at 9 a.m. March 10 at the Springdale Recreation Center, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster.
The event, sponsored by Universal Karate Studios, will be judged by professional judges certified by Dojo Sport Karate Organization.
The competition features more than 200 divisions. All children will compete first.
There will also be classic adult black belt awards and cash for all grand champions.
The event offers pre-registration discounts for school owners who pre-register 15 or more students.
