Adult hoops league meeting today, Feb. 1
The Lancaster County Parks and Recreation Department will hold an organizational meeting for the 2012 Adult Basketball League at 7 p.m. today, Feb. 1, at Springdale Recreation Center, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster. League fees, rules, divisions and starting dates will be discussed. Team representatives should attend this meeting. For details, call (803) 285-5545.
 

Lynx Wrestling fundraiser Friday
Lynx Wrestling Alliance will host a wrestling fundraiser Friday, Feb. 4, at Buford Middle School, 1890 N. Rocky River Road, Lancaster. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m., with bell time at 7:30.
The main event features Fuzzy Bass against Scott Black. The tag team match includes Mr. Timmons and Mr. Hammond against the Warriors. The battle for the U.S. championship pits Baja El Grande Jr. against Big Country.
Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. The event is family-friendly with no foul language.

Youth lacrosse team seeks players

Carolina Blackjax 10U baseball tryouts
Tryouts for the Carolina Blackjax 10-under baseball team, a Lancaster area traveling baseball team, will be held for the 2012 season.
If you are interested in having a youngster try out for the team, call for a tryout time and date.

Martial arts championships set
The 38th annual Universal Martial Arts championships will be at 9 a.m. March 10 at the Springdale Recreation Center, 260 S. Plantation Road, Lancaster.
The event, sponsored by Universal Karate Studios, will be judged by professional judges certified by Dojo Sport Karate Organization.
The competition features more than 200 divisions. All children will compete first. Also featured are classic adult black belt awards and cash for all grand champions.
The event offers pre-registration discounts for school owners who pre-register 15 or more students.
