ILES teacher wins HT excellence award
Indian Land Elementary School science teacher Denise Christine Trufan has received the Harris Teeter Teachers of Excellence Award.
As one of the 10 winners, Trufan will receive $1,000 in cash, as well as a $1,000 cash reward for her school.
The award is part of the company’s Together in Education (TIE) program to celebrate teachers whose dedication and inspiring presence motivates and impacts students, colleagues and the community.
The award winners were selected from a list of nominations submitted by TIE coordinators throughout the company’s marketing areas.
To be eligible, a teacher must teach at a school that is registered with the Together in Education program, and the school must also have at least 100 people linked to its TIE number.
A release from Harris Teeter said “the 2012 nominees are all exceptionally dedicated to their profession, playing an active role in the community as well as in the school. These teachers inspire students to learn through effective instructional practices and have exemplary educational accomplishments beyond the classroom, which provide models of excellence for others in their profession.”
