St. John’s picnic Sept. 23

Cowboy Church race Sept. 23
Carolinas Cowboy Church will hold a NBHA barrel race at 6 p.m. Sept. 23 in the Riverside Rodeo Arena, 1504 Cedar Pine Lake Road, Lancaster, with gates open at 4 p.m. Admission is $5 and all proceeds benefit the church. For details, call Sarah Vinson at (704) 309-1897.
Seniors ice cream social
The VIPs Senior Group at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will have a homemade ice cream social at 2 p.m. Sept. 25 in the fellowship center. Enjoy the ice cream and find out what the group has planned this year. A sign-up sheet is in the church lobby.
Women’s luncheon Sept. 26
The Lancaster Christian Women’s Connection will hold its “Fall is Here” luncheon 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Sept. 26 at JoMar’s Family Restaurant, 278 S.C. 9 Bypass East, Lancaster. Becky Morris of Salisbury, N.C., will sing and speak on “Caution! Bump Ahead.” Cost is $14 per person and all proceeds benefit Stonecroft Ministries. For details, call (803) 286-0133.
Moriah offers grief support group
The Moriah Baptist Association, 914 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, will hold a six-week grief support group called “A Journey Toward Healing,” 1-2 p.m. Tuesdays through Oct. 24. Space is limited, so attendees are asked to RSVP. For details or to RSVP, call Alice Robinson at (803) 286-1472.
The pumpkins are coming
The pumpkins are coming to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, on Sept. 30. The church is seeking volunteers to help unload the pumpkins from the tractor trailer. It also needs people to volunteer a couple of hours on October weekends  to help sell pumpkins. A sign-up board is posted in the sanctuary lobby. Proceeds will go to missions or wherever it is needed most in the church. For details, contact Jeannine Hillhouse at jhillhouse@comporium.net or the church at (803) 547-7538.
Moriah sessions Oct. 3
The Moriah Baptist Association will hold its annual sessions at 4:30 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Oct. 3 at Pleasant Dale Baptist Church, 133 S. Potter Road, Lancaster.
Missions and ministry reports will be given in the afternoon session. The Pleasant Dale Baptist Church Choir will perform and the Rev. Sean Stroud will speak during the evening session. Tickets for a buffet meal catered by Cromer’s are available for $10 at the Moriah Missions Center, 914 W. Meeting St., Lancaster, through Sept. 27.
AA meets at Belair UMC
Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the social hall at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road. The meetings are open discussion, with speakers on the third Wednesday of the month.
Faith Presbyterian Church moves services
Faith Presbyterian Church has moved its services from the Indian Land Recreation Center to its newly constructed multipurpose worship building at 7520 Charlotte Highway (at the intersection of U.S. 521 and Van Wyck Road) in Indian Land. Sunday school begins at 9 a.m., followed by an informal coffee time at 9:30 a.m. and the Sunday worship service at 10 a.m.
Faith will hold a dedication and celebration service of its new worship center at 3 p.m. Oct. 1, with refreshments to follow.

Catholics add fifth service
Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Highway (S.C. 75) has just added its fifth service. Worship services are now held at 4 and 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 7, 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday. For more info on Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, led by Father Jeffrey Kirby, visit www.gracewepray.org.
St. John’s  offers line dancing classes
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 321 S. Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, will offer line dance classes for all ages 7-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Oct. 3-24. All four lessons are $20 per person. St. John’s kids consignment sale Oct. 12-14
St. John’s United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold its Children’s Fall and Winter Consignment Sale on Oct. 12-14. Proceeds will benefit the St. John’s UMC WEE School. Next JAARS Day Oct. 14
The next JAARS Day is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 14 at 7405 JAARS Road, Waxhaw.
The open house will feature missionary stories, rides in an airplane, helicopter, boat or four-wheel-drive vehicle, media demonstrations in various languages, children’s activities, ethnic clothes and musical instruments from other cultures and more.
The Museum of the Alphabet and the Mexico-Cardenas Museum will be open to visitors.

St. John’s UMW plans Oktoberfest
The United Methodist Women of St. John’s United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold Oktoberfest on Oct. 21. If you are cleaning out closets and drawers and have books, games, knick-knacks, etc., to donate for the silent auction, bring them to Room 112 in the church fellowship center. Do not bring clothes or old TVs. The event will feature many vendors for holiday shopping. Profits support the missions of the United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men.
