Belair food pantry March 1

The food pantry at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, is open 9 a.m.-noon March 1 for those who live in the Indian Land and Harrisburg schools attendance area. Anyone in need of food is welcome. Donations of food or money are also welcome at the church office from 9 a.m. to noon weekdays.

St. John’s UMC posts events 

St. John’s United Methodist Church, 130 Tom Hall St., Fort Mill, will hold the following upcoming events:

• Family Ministries will be sponsoring a weekend retreat at Asbury Hills on March 2-4. Sign up in the hallway near the sanctuary. At least 20 people need to sign up for this to be held.

• Sign up now for the Disciple 1 Bible Study. It is a 32-week, in-depth course. It may be split into two sessions – one in the spring and one in the fall. If you have never taken one of the disciple classes, consider signing up for this one. Sign-up sheets available in the lobby.

Next JAARS Day March 10

The next JAARS Day is 9 a.m.-4 p.m. March 10 at 7405 JAARS Road, Waxhaw, N.C. The open house will feature missionary stories, rides in an airplane, helicopter, boat or four-wheel-drive vehicle, media demonstrations in various languages, children’s activities, ethnic clothes and musical instruments from other cultures and visits to the Museum of the Alphabet and the Mexico-Cardenas Museum. Faith hosts Lenten Bible study

Faith Presbyterian Church, 7520 Charlotte Highway, offers a Lenten Bible study at 7 p.m. Tuesdays through March 20 in the church sanctuary. The study is on “The Path to the Cross” by Ray VanderLaan. Each study includes a video, in which VanderLaan shares a part of the landscape of Israel and how that relates to Scripture. For details, call (803) 548-8810.

OLOG announces events

Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Highway, will hold the following events:

• There will be a mission March 3-7 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, 7095 Waxhaw Highway. Father Thomas Hickey will speak on the mission theme, “Does it Matter?”

• OLOG Book Club meets 1-2 p.m. Mondays.

• Father Jeffrey Kirby leads the “Kingdom of Happiness” course at 1 p.m. Thursdays through March 15 and 5:30 p.m. Sundays through March 18. Study guide costs $25.

Faith hosts food truck March 21

Faith Presbyterian Church of Indian Land will sponsor a Second Harvest Mobile Food Pantry on March 21. The pantry truck will be in the parking lot of the new Faith Presbyterian Church building at 7520 Charlotte Highway, at the intersection of U.S. 521and Van Wyck Road. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m., and the distribution of food should begin at about 9 a.m.

Food is distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until it is gone. Recipients must meet USDA income eligibility guidelines. An acceptable form of ID is required at the time of registration. 

This distribution is open to all who are in need in our communities. For more info on the mobile pantry, call Faith at (803) 548-8810.  

AA meets at Belair UMC

Alcoholics Anonymous meets at 7 p.m. Wednesdays in the social hall at Belair United Methodist Church, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road. The meetings are open discussion with speakers on third Wednesdays.    

NAMI support groups meet

The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Family Support Group meets 7-8:30 p.m. the first Thursday of each month in Room 203 at Transformation Church, 8978 Charlotte Highway. For details, contact Sue Korn at (704) 575-5928 or suekorn08@gmail.com.

NAMI Connections (for adults with mental health conditions) and Family Support groups meet the first Monday and third Thursday of each month at First Presbyterian Church, 700 N. Main St., Lancaster. For details, visit www.namipiedmont.com.

Caregiver group meets at Belair

Hospice Care of S.C. will hold a caregiver support group 10-11 a.m. the third Wednesday of each month in the Belair United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 8095 Shelley Mullis Road, Indian Land. For details, call Cory Turner at (803) 577-4912.

Temple Solel services

Temple Solel, a Reform Jewish congregation, holds its services at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 292 Munn Road, Fort Mill, and holds Shabbat services at 7 p.m. on the second and fourth Fridays of each month in the St. Phillip Neri community room.
