The Sun City Carolina Lakes annual Red Hat picnic brought the community’s six clubs together in May, while throughout the year, the individual chapters enjoyed various activities.
With all six clubs, there could be a Sun City Carolina Lakes Red Hat chapter meeting any day of the week, plus the chapter that meets at night to accommodate working members.
The 2012 all-hats event at the Lake House was hosted by Chapter 5, the Ladies of the Lakes.
An adaptation of the TV game show, “The Price is Right,” was conceived and orchestrated by Norma Hersh. Chapter 5 presented item-filled baskets for contestants to guess retail prices.
Contestants’ names were drawn by Sherry Cockrell. Dianne Killmer described the presented baskets for each round of play, while Jane Grinde announcer the correct retail prices.
Several Ladies of the Lakes’ members’ husbands participated in the 2012 Red Hat Picnic. Jeanne Robertson’s husband, Jim, was “The Price is Right” show host and moderator.
Escorts and prize presenters were Sherry Cockrell’s husband, Mike; Dianne Killmer’s husband, Dick; Sue Rettig’s husband, Jeff; Norma Umansky’s husband, Jerry; and Carol Robak’s husband, Butch. Norma Hersh’s husband, Lee, presented consolation prizes.
Marilyn Giardini, Ruth De Paola, Norma Hersh and Sheila Bornstein were responsible for prize transport and set-up.
Roberta Wilner produced name tags.
Members of Chapters 1-4 and 6 provided salad or dessert for the picnic.
“The Price is Right” game winners were: Maggie Kostelac, Dianne Palmer, Myrtle Edwards, Gloria Mainhart, Chris Greene, Jane Limerick, Jackie Serviss, Dianne Stevens, Lois Summey, Rosemary Webster, Nikki Wilkenfeld, Barbara Collins, Kathy Davis, Marianna Bannash, Cathy Smiy, Adrienne Cohen, Charlotte Grote, Carol Kiernan, Janet Pink, Geri Anderson, Nancy Preston, Sharon Davis, Mona Baker, Dot Callahan, Marie Heffner, Barbara Goodman, Nancy Hein and Nancy McCrumb.
