Greetings from Faith Presbyterian Church.
We are now over a year old and yet it seems like only yesterday that we gathered to celebrate our chartering as a church. This has been a very busy, exciting and rewarding time as we have welcomed new members, elected elders and have truly become a worshiping family of God.
Our Sunday worship service is at 10 a.m. in the Indian Land Recreation Center, located near the Indian Land schools. We strive to be a warm and welcoming church of faith, where the Bible is studied and the gospel of Jesus Christ is preached and taught. Our services and the pastor’s sermons are in tune with problems facing the world today and stress the need to keep Jesus Christ first and foremost in our daily lives. While our choir is small – there are only 12 members – their musical talents and enthusiasm bring something special to our services. We have a bright and colorful nursery, attended by loving caregivers for our children, but always have a special time for the children during our regular Sunday service. Communion is celebrated on the first Sunday of each month.
We, as a church, desire to make disciples through fellowship and gathering in the name of God. We offer a number of adult study opportunities, including men’s and women’s Bible study and a Sunday Bible study class before services. We love to get together for church socials and we love to eat, whether after church at the recreation center or outdoors at our church office at the site of the former Six Mile Creek Presbyterian Church, which will be our future building site. We also offer a mothers’ morning out on Wednesdays during the school year. It is apparent that we don’t need much of an excuse to get together, we gather for fun, for Bible study and for mutual support during times of personal or family crisis.
There is a vacation Bible camp one week every summer and we offer a monthly Super Sunday for kids on Sunday afternoons, using our Bible camp format to teachthem to experience the love of Jesus Christ through Bible studies and fun activities.
The congregation of Faith Presbyterian Church has accepted the challenge of the Scriptures to go into the world to share the love of Jesus Christ by helping those less fortunate than ourselves. We are honored to host Second Harvest Food Ministries periodically throughout the year and to assist Belair Methodist Church with its food bank program. As a congregation and as individuals, we assist in ministering to the needs of the local community through our support of HOPE (Helping Other People Effectively) in Lancaster, Lancaster Christian Services, Lancaster Children’s Home and local schools by the giving of our time and talents as needed, collecting food, clothing, household goods and even computers to assist them in supporting their mission. During the Christmas season, we, as a congregation and as individuals, give to brighten the season for needy children and their families. We participate in the Samaritan’s Purse program, donating shoe boxes filled with gifts to be distributed to kids around the world, as well as participating in the local Christmas angel tree program to support families and kids locally.
Through God’s grace, Faith Presbyterian Church is a loving, warm congregation that feels like family. Come worship with us and we believe you will agree.
