I am a bit miffed and confused by Melanie Aves’ rebuttal regarding a letter I wrote some time ago. She not only misquotes me, but seems to be all over the board. Is she whining about the jobs bill scam, the payroll tax (aka FICA) cut or the Obamacare scam?
The failed Obama jobs bill, in a nutshell, penalizes seniors in order to buy the loyalty of union votes. The payroll/FICA tax cut does reduce funding to Social Security and, to a lesser extent, Medicare. The reduction hits the general fund, which funds these programs.
I said nothing about it cutting current SS benefits. It hits future seniors. Or is she referring to the planned $500 billion cut to Medicare by Obamacare set to start after the next election, of course?
Higher business taxes? It is Obama who has stated that income taxes should be raised on those making $250,000 or more per year. Since small businesses are often listed as S corporations, they are required to pay taxes on their personal return on what their small business, not them personally, earns. Obama’s tax plan can hit them hard. The tax figures she quotes are ficticious. If they were true, small businesses would be lined up supporting it. They did quite the opposite.
And where does she get I blamed the S.C. Legislature? These are federal, not state issues. If Ms. Aves does not like Rep. Mulvaney, just say so instead of spewing typical Democrat propaganda.
By the way, Ms. Aves, your whole letter is no longer pertinent since the Obama jobs bill went nowhere because Democrats in the Senate, along with Harry Reid, refused to bring it to the floor. Hello?
